Campfire Audio Trifecta IEM Unveiled: High-End Munich 2022

$3,400 for a pair of IEMs. The Campfire Audio Trifecta have been unveiled at High-End Munich 2022 and our wallets are crying.

Campfire Audio Trifecta IEM

Campfire Audio’s Holocene IEMs became my daily drivers in 2021 and I continue to be impressed by what they can do. The $700 price tag was my absolute ceiling for any pair of headphones or IEMs and I take them with me almost everywhere as part of my commute or when I work locally from a cafe or on the beach.

That $700 expenditure made me feel less guilty when Campfire Audio reached out about the new Trifecta IEMs which retail for $3,375 USD.

That’s more than I paid for my first used car in 1987.

Is there a market for such an expensive IEM? 10 years ago, I would have rolled my eyes and said under 100 customers worldwide. The ultra premium IEM market has evolved and I suspect they will sell these without too much difficulty if they deliver the performance that one should expect at the very high price point.

Campfire Audio will debut the new Trifecta premium earphone at High End 2022 in Munich. Although clearly aimed at the luxury market, it’s shaping up to be one of this summer’s biggest IEM releases.

With the Trifecta, named for its triple dynamic driver setup, Campfire will need to both improve upon their existing line up and surpass the competition. The company’s last foray into the high-end IEM market were the Solaris 2020 ($1,499) and Andromeda 2020 ($1,099), along with the middle Ara ($1,299). Trifecta will not only have to take things up a few levels, but also battle it out in the ever expanding high-end IEM arena in which 64Audio, Fir Audio and Empire Ears have entered as of late, respectively.

Trifecta is said to envelop the listener in rich, towering waves of sonic impact. Its stunning presentation and head-turning style produce an astounding experience in form, function, and aesthetic.

Optically clear nylon housing provides a window to its internal components, revealing three 10mm ADLC diaphragm dynamic drivers with gold-plated cases. Individually vented drivers face one another in a unique triangular configuration, their performance enhanced by an acoustically tuned chamber.  Together these three custom drivers create a breathtakingly massive sound.

Debuting with Trifecta is a reimagined cable collection from Campfire Audio. Silver Plated – High Purity Copper ribbon cable with 2.5mm, 3.5mm, and 4.4mm terminations.
