For decades, NAD built its reputation on affordable integrated amplifiers that delivered more power and better sound than their modest specifications suggested. But the hi-fi landscape has changed. Today’s listeners want the familiar simplicity of a traditional stereo amplifier without sacrificing streaming, television connectivity, or the flexibility to build a modern 2.1-channel system.
The challenge is delivering all of that without turning a straightforward piece of hi-fi equipment into another complicated computer with speaker terminals. NAD believes its new C 359S Class A/B Integrated Amplifier ($1,299) offers a solution.
It’s an interesting move from a Canadian manufacturer that has invested heavily in Class D amplification across its Classic and Masters Series. But NAD never completely abandoned Class A/B. The excellent C 316BEE V2, remains a reminder of what the company does so well. Earlier models such as the C 326BEE and C 356BEE also helped establish NAD’s reputation for delivering serious amplification without the extravagant prices or unnecessary complexity that sometimes accompany high-end audio.

The C 359S isn’t simply a nostalgic return to those earlier designs. NAD has re-engineered its Class A/B amplification approach using power supply technology derived from its more advanced Class D platform, while incorporating the connectivity and functionality expected from a modern integrated amplifier. The result is a design that attempts to bridge two generations of hi-fi without forcing buyers to choose between old-school simplicity and modern convenience.

Core Features
The NAD C 359S incorporates a two-channel Class AB amplifier rated to deliver 70 watts of continuous power per channel into 8 ohms or 120 watts per channel into 4 ohms, supported by a high-current, low-noise switch-mode power supply. In addition to its two amplified channels, the C 359S provides a subwoofer preamplifier output for connecting an external powered subwoofer of the user’s choice.
As an integrated amplifier, the C 359S offers a selection of physical connections, including analog and optical digital inputs, a dedicated phono input for turntables, and HDMI eARC for accessing audio from compatible televisions. The amplifier also incorporates BluOS, providing access to a wide range of streaming services and wireless multiroom audio capabilities that extend its functionality beyond a conventional two-channel system.
Bluetooth with aptX HD provides another wireless listening option, while a dedicated headphone output accommodates private listening. Additional technical details are included in the specifications chart below.
The C 359S also offers flexible control options, including easy-to-use front-panel buttons, large rotary knobs, and a supplied infrared remote. Ethernet connectivity allows the amplifier to be integrated into compatible custom control systems, providing additional flexibility for more sophisticated installations.

The Bottom Line
The NAD C 359S represents a thoughtful evolution of the company’s traditional integrated amplifier, combining familiar Class AB amplification with a modern switching power supply derived from its Masters Series technology. What makes it particularly interesting isn’t its 70 watts per channel, but how NAD has integrated BluOS streaming, HDMI eARC, and practical subwoofer management without abandoning the straightforward operation that made its earlier amplifiers so appealing.
It’s a sensible combination of established engineering and contemporary functionality, without turning a stereo amplifier into another complicated piece of connected hardware.
For owners of older NAD amplifiers such as the C 316BEE V2, C 326BEE, or C 356BEE, the C 359S offers a compelling upgrade path, particularly for listeners who still enjoy CDs and vinyl but want high-resolution streaming and better integration with their television. The optional high-pass filter also makes it especially attractive for smaller loudspeakers paired with a subwoofer, where proper bass management can make a meaningful difference.
Whether its revised amplifier architecture delivers an audible improvement over those earlier models remains to be established through listening, but NAD has made a convincing case for keeping the traditional integrated amplifier relevant in 2026. Not everyone wants to replace a perfectly good stereo system with a collection of wireless speakers and another subscription.
