Marantz’s Model 60n Network Integrated Amplifier Looks and Feels Like Its More Expensive Sibling For Less Money

At $1,500, the Marantz 60n is a 60-watt per channel integrated amp that connects to a TV, CD Player, turntable, and streams music.

Marantz Model 60n Network Integrated Amplifier

When the Model 40n was released in 2022, it was a welcome addition to the Marantz product line-up. It has all the characteristics of a great integrated amplifier from the past with the addition of streaming and multi-room wireless audio to meet the changing music-listening landscape.

For 2024 Marantz has just released another network integrated amplifier, the Model 60n which includes a lot features from the 40n but with a price tag that is $1,000 less.

Let’s take a brief look at what the 60n offers and how it compares to the 40n.
To start off, the 40n is manufactured in Shirakawa, Japan, and Sound Master Tuned to deliver the texture, nuance, and clarity of the Marantz Signature Sound.

The 60n is manufactured in Vietnam.

Marantz 60n

The 60n incorporates a 60W per channel amplifier that includes HDAM circuit technology for optimal dynamic range and lower distortion. All the physical inputs you would expect are provided such as analog, digital, USB, and MM phono inputs, as well as an ARC-enabled HDMI input for those who enjoy viewing their TVs or projectors with a 2-channel audio setup rather than a full-on AVR-based surround sound setup (although Marantz also offers a selection of AVRs to fill that the need).

Pro-Tip: The 60n includes both preamp and subwoofer outputs and the 40n’s HDMI input and output that also supports video resolution pass-through up to 8K.

HEOS

HEOS App Home Screen 2024

For additional use flexibility, the 60n incorporates the HEOS streaming platform which is accessible via the HEOS app. This allows users to access streaming services including Spotify, Apple Airplay, Deezer, iHeart Radio, Pandora, Sirius XM, Tidal, Amazon Music, and more, and is also Roon Ready. HEOS also supports wireless multiroom audio with compatible speakers and associated devices.

The 60n also incorporates Bluetooth for additional music-listening options.

Although a wireless remote is provided, the 60n also supports voice control via Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, or Google Assistant.

Industrial Design

The 60n has Marantz’s latest industrial design. Sporting a steel top and chassis, the MODEL 60n features the same architectural design, refined materials, and intuitive operation as the CD 50n, and is available in two colorways: black and silver-gold.

Initial Impression

Coming off the recent release of the $15,000 Model 10 Integrated Amplifier that we saw and heard about at CEDIA Expo 2024, it is great to see Marantz following up with a much more reasonably priced Integrated amplifier with network features that will not only appeal to a wider customer base but has a lot the features of their popular Model 40n network integrated amp.

The back panel of the 60n clearly says Made in Vietnam, so no, the 60n is not made in Marantz’s renowned Japanese facility. The 40n, however, is.

Make mine Silver/Gold. This and the 40n are the loverliest Integrated amps going. HEOS is excellente’!

The ONLY thing missing is a pair of VU Meters. Dammit. Now I don’t want to buy one. VU Meters make audio more funner.

      ORT,

Marantz is really making some great sounding equipment right now. The best in many decades. The bigger issue is the state of their parent company and what happens to all of the brands. We hope to see D&M sold together to someone who actually wants to own a pair of high-end legacy brands that make great equipment and have a genuine story to tell.
