The new Børresen Center3 shifts that narrative slightly. It brings Børresen’s core design philosophy into a dedicated center channel format aimed at high performance home theater systems, but this time lands in a comparatively attainable four figure price range.

The Center3 marks Børresen’s first dedicated center channel speaker, designed to deliver voices with precision and stability while keeping dialogue clear and firmly anchored even in complex scenes. Because the center channel handles most of the spoken content in a system, its performance is critical not only for intelligibility but also for maintaining tonal consistency across the entire front soundstage.

The Center3 is the result of a collaboration between Michael Børresen and Flemming E. Rasmussen, blending engineering precision with a more restrained visual design while extending the Børresen experience into film and television.

DDC5 Neo Midwoofers: The Center3 features advanced 5 inch midwoofers built around a three layer composite diaphragm, with a Nomex honeycomb core sandwiched between carbon fiber skins. This structure delivers high stiffness while keeping moving mass exceptionally low. Graphene whiskers are also integrated into the cone, helping push resonances well beyond the driver’s operating range for cleaner, more controlled output.

RP-94 Ribbon Tweeter: Børresen equips the Center3 with the same ribbon planar tweeter used in its higher end loudspeakers. The RP-94 features an aluminum coated membrane that weighs just 0.01 grams, enabling extremely fast transient response and highly detailed high frequency reproduction. It operates across a wide range from 2.5 kHz to 50 kHz, ensuring clarity and extension well beyond the limits of human hearing.

Serial Crossover: To further refine performance, Børresen employs a serial crossover network rather than a traditional parallel design. This approach maintains phase locked current flow through the drivers within the crossover region, improving coherence and delivering a more unified, seamless acoustic presentation.

Advanced Cabinet Construction: The Center3’s enclosure is built from thick hardwood laminates with block milled internal bracing to increase structural stiffness and suppress unwanted resonances. Separate acoustic chambers allow each driver to operate with minimal interaction, preserving clarity and control.

Mechanical Grounding: The Center3 incorporates a dedicated cradle system with Ansuz Darkz Feet. This provides mechanical stability and controlled vibration management while allowing precise angular alignment of the center loudspeaker.

The Bottom Line 

Børresen may be known for building some of the most expensive loudspeakers on the planet, but the brand has been making a deliberate move toward more accessible territory with its X Series, priced from $5,000 to $20,000 per pair. The Center3, at $7,000 each, fits squarely within that range and extends the lineup into home theater for the first time.

While not officially labeled as such, some dealers have already referred to it as the “X Center,” and that tracks. The Center3 shares much of the engineering DNA and visual identity of the X Series, with a few trickle-down elements from Børresen’s more ambitious designs. It’s clearly intended to anchor a matching front stage, not act as a one-off upgrade.

At $7,000 for a 23 inch wide center channel, this is still a serious investment, but it’s not out of line with other high end options from brands like Wilson Audio. In that context, the Center3 is less about sticker shock and more about system matching and performance expectations.

The Center3 is unique because it brings Børresen’s core technologies including its ribbon tweeter, iron free driver philosophy, and serial crossover design into a dedicated center channel for the first time, finally giving existing owners a proper home theater solution. This is not a casual upgrade. It’s for listeners already invested in the Børresen ecosystem or those building a no compromise front stage who care about tonal consistency and dialogue precision as much as musicality. If you are not running matching speakers, it is likely overkill. If you are, it is the missing piece.
