When the Sonos ARC soundbar was released in 2020, it became a popular TV sound solution for Sonos users. However, with the recent introduction of the Sonos ARC Ultra Soundbar in November 2024 with expanded connectivity options and improved sonic capabilities — it was time to retire the Sonos ARC.

However, that is great news for consumers (whether you are a Sonos user or not) as it is now on closeout sale for $649 while supplies last.

When it was introduced in 2020, it was priced at $799, but was raised to $899 in 2021, and mostly recently it was on sale on Cyber Monday 2024 for $719.

What is Sonos ARC?

For those not familiar with the Sonos ARC, it is a soundbar that incorporates Dolby Atmos (and Dolby Atmos Music) surround. In addition to left, center, and right channel speakers, it also has upward-firing and side-firing speakers to provide an immersive surround sound from a single cabinet that can fit under most flat-panel TVs. It can also be wall-mounted.

Users can access Dolby Atmos Music from Amazon Music Unlimited, and it you pair it with an AppleTV 4K streaming box, you can also enjoy Dolby Atmos Music from Apple Music and Tidal.

The ARC also supports Dolby Atmos from movies and TV shows on video streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max (among others) with a compatible Smart TV or video streaming box.

For an enhanced Dolby Atmos experience, you can also add a pair of wireless rear speakers (such as the Era 100 or Era 300) and a Sonos Sub subwoofer (you can put the $250 you save on the closeout price towards those options).

In addition to improving TV sound and accessing Dolby Atmos, you can integrate the ARC with a Sonos whole home music platform.

The Bottom Line

Here is your chance to get a Sonos ARC Soundbar while supplies last. As discussed above, the Sonos ARC provides Dolby Atmos support and can also be used as part of a wireless whole-house Sonos music setup. The downside is that a subwoofer and external surround speakers will add significantly to the cost.
