Alcons Audio is bringing an 11.8.6-channel immersive audio system to CEDIA Expo 2026, where the Dutch loudspeaker manufacturer will demonstrate its proprietary pro-ribbon technology inside a purpose-built private cinema and introduce the new IRP24 ultra-shallow in-wall loudspeaker.
The demonstration will take place September 2-4 in Sound Room SR9 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Alcons says the system will showcase the dynamics, clarity, and low-distortion performance of its pro-ribbon designs across a large-scale residential theater installation. The IRP24 will make its public debut, and we now have the first substantive technical details, although Alcons has not yet published a complete specification sheet or pricing.
Alcons IRP24: What We Know Now
The new Alcons IRP24 is a slim two-way point-source loudspeaker designed for both on-wall and in-wall installation. At its center is Alcons’ RBN202 pro-ribbon driver, positioned in a vertically symmetrical arrangement with four custom 6.5-inch Active Coil mid-bass drivers. The design is intended to maintain close acoustical coupling between the ribbon and woofers while keeping distortion low as output levels increase.
A rotatable constant-directivity waveguide provides either 120 x 90-degree or 90 x 120-degree coverage, allowing the IRP24 to be installed horizontally or vertically without changing its basic dispersion characteristics. That flexibility should be particularly useful in immersive theaters where available wall space, screen placement and seating geometry can dictate speaker orientation.
The other important number is depth. The sealed IRP24 enclosure requires only 4 inches (10 cm) of mounting depth, and an optional baffle plate allows it to be integrated into the wall or used as a shallow surface-mounted loudspeaker. That gives Alcons a considerably more installation-friendly way to bring its pro-ribbon technology into rooms where its larger cinema speakers would be impractical.
Alcons has still not published the complete IRP24 specifications or pricing. The current information does not include frequency response, sensitivity, impedance, maximum SPL or power requirements, so there are still some important blanks to fill in before we can properly assess its performance potential and where it sits within the residential lineup.
Alcons Pro-Ribbon and Low Frequency Speakers
The 11.8.6-channel system will be anchored by three Alcons CRMSQ pro-ribbon line-source arrays, handling the left, center, and right screen channels.

Each screen channel combines two CRMSQ modules with one CRMSQB low-frequency extension module. Alcons says the modular configuration is designed to deliver high output, controlled directivity, low distortion, wide dynamic range, and high speech intelligibility.

Supporting the front channels, Alcons is bringing fourteen CRMSC-SRHV compact pro-ribbon reference surrounds. Using the same core mid/high-frequency transducer technology as the front channels, ensuring seamless tonal matching and a coherent immersive soundfield.

Alcon 18-inch Subwoofers

For bass, the system includes eight Alcons CRMS-LFE18 large-format 18-inch reference subwoofers. This subwoofer system will be combined with Trinnov’s advanced Double Bass Array processing (Waveforming). The subwoofer configuration is designed to deliver controlled low-frequency extension to below 10 Hz to support consistent performance across every seating position.
Alcons Speaker Controllers


For amplification and system control, Alcons will use its Sentinel10 and Director6 amplified loudspeaker controllers to power and manage the complete 11.8.6-channel system. Alcons Integrity Sensing monitors the signal path and loudspeaker load to help maintain consistent performance, system protection, and reliability.
Participating Partners
In addition to the Alcons loudspeakers and amplified loudspeaker controllers, the company is working with Trinnov, Christie, Lumagen, Kaleidescape, DreamScreen, and Poes Acoustics to complete the CEDIA 2026 demonstration system. Together, the components will handle processing, projection, video management, source playback, screen technology, and room acoustics for the 11.8.6-channel immersive cinema.
Trinnov

A Trinnov Altitude32 processor will provide immersive audio processing and Double Bass Array control. Digital AES3 signal transport between the processor and Alcons amplified loudspeaker controllers minimizes conversion stages and preserves signal integrity.
Christie, Kaleidescape, and Lumagen

For the video side of the demonstration, Christie will provide its Griffyn 4K35-RGB three-chip DLP pure-laser projector. The Griffyn delivers native 4K resolution and up to 36,500 ISO lumens, giving the system the brightness, color performance, and image detail required for a large-format private cinema installation.
A Kaleidescape movie player will serve as the primary content source, while a Lumagen video processor will handle video processing. DreamScreen’s X1 projection screen completes the video portion of the 11.8.6-channel demonstration.
Pro Tip: Alcons has not disclosed the specific Kaleidescape or Lumagen models that will be used in the CEDIA 2026 system.
Poes Acoustics
The entire presentation is designed and optimized by Poes Acoustics, bringing the audio and visual technologies together as one integrated private cinema experience.

Alcons Audio’s CEDIA Expo 2026 demonstration is unique because it is not simply a loudspeaker demo. If the system performs anywhere near its specifications, Sound Room 9 should be one of the more heavily trafficked demos at CEDIA Expo 2026.
