As Rotel’s flagship sub-brand, Michi dates back to 1993, although the name disappeared for many years before being revived in 2019. In 2026, the Prestige Series is giving Michi another significant push into the high-end audio market.
Following the 2026 introductions of the Q430 CD Player and X430 Integrated Amplifier, Michi is expanding the Prestige lineup with two additional models: the P430 Stereo Preamplifier and S430 Stereo Power Amplifier. Let’s take a closer look at what they bring to the table.
The Michi Prestige Series is intended to bring much of the brand’s high-end engineering philosophy to a broader audience, drawing on technologies and design principles established in the more expensive Michi Reference Series.

Michi Prestige P430 Pre-amplifier
Through a balanced architecture, multi-stage low-noise power regulation, and carefully managed grounding, the P430 pre-amplifier is engineered to preserve signal integrity while maintaining transparency, detail, timing accuracy, and precise soundstage reproduction.
At its digital core, the P430 uses an ESS SABRE ES9028PRO 8-channel DAC, combined with advanced clocking and jitter control to improve linearity and musical coherence.
The P430 also offers extensive connectivity. Digital inputs include three coaxial and three optical inputs, PC-USB with DSD256 support, Roon Tested certification, wireless Bluetooth with aptX HD and AAC, and HDMI ARC. Analog connectivity includes one balanced XLR input, three RCA line-level inputs, and an MM phono input.
For system expansion and installation flexibility, dual balanced XLR outputs, dual RCA outputs, and a line-level output allow the P430 to be used in conventional preamp/power amp systems or more ambitious bi-amp configurations. Coaxial and optical digital outputs enable connection to downstream digital components, while dual mono subwoofer outputs provide additional flexibility for integrating low-frequency reproduction.

Michi Prestige S430 Stereo Power Amplifier
Designed to complement the P430, the S430 Stereo Power Amplifier delivers 390 watts per channel into 4 ohms and 230 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Its combination of substantial output and high-current capability is intended to drive a wide range of loudspeakers, including more demanding designs.
At the heart of the S430 is an in-house-designed oversized toroidal transformer, complemented by high-capacitance energy storage and comprehensive protection circuitry. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs are provided, along with 5-way binding posts for connecting loudspeakers.
For system integration, the S430 includes a 12V trigger and automatic power-off functionality. A front-panel TFT display offers selectable VU meter and spectrum analyzer views, giving the amplifier some visual theater without turning it into a light show.
Together, the P430 and S430 provide a new separates-based entry point into Michi performance within the Prestige Series. The combination offers buyers who do not want an integrated amplifier greater system flexibility, substantial power, and a clearer upgrade path while retaining the design and engineering approach established across the Michi lineup.

The Bottom Line
Rotel has built its reputation largely in the mid-priced hi-fi market, but Michi has given the company a credible way to reach much further up the ladder. The new Prestige P430 and S430 continue that strategy without asking buyers to jump immediately into the considerably more expensive Michi Reference Series.
At $3,999 each, neither component is inexpensive, and buying the pair turns this into an $8,000 proposition. Still, that pricing is significant because it gives buyers access to a genuine Michi separates system for less per component than some of the company’s more expensive Reference electronics. Whether the Prestige models are actually “better” is the wrong question. They are designed to offer a different balance of price, flexibility, features, and performance.
The P430 is arguably the more interesting half of the equation. In addition to balanced and single-ended analog connectivity, it includes an MM phono stage, ESS SABRE DAC, PC-USB, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, Roon Tested certification, dual subwoofer outputs, and digital outputs. That is a rather useful collection of features for a high-end preamplifier and makes the P430 easier to integrate into a modern system than many purist analog designs.
The S430 takes the more traditional route, delivering 230 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 390 watts into 4 ohms from a high-current Class AB design. It also includes balanced and RCA inputs, dual sets of speaker terminals, and a configurable TFT display with VU meter and spectrum analyzer modes. Audiophiles still get their dancing meters; they just are not blue and there is no McIntosh logo above them.
The most obvious competitor is NAD’s Masters Series. The M66 streaming DAC-preamplifier adds BluOS streaming, Dirac Live room correction, bass management, and MM/MC phono capability, while the M23 V2 power amplifier delivers 200 watts per channel and currently sells for $3,999. That combination costs more than the Michi pairing, but it offers considerably more software and room-correction capability.
Anthem’s STR Preamplifier and STR Power Amplifier are another serious alternative. The STR preamp includes Anthem Room Correction, sophisticated bass management, MM/MC phono support, and extensive digital connectivity, while the power amplifier delivers a formidable 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The pair is also substantially more expensive, which helps put Michi’s $8,000 asking price into perspective.
Parasound also deserves a seat at the table. Its Halo P6 and A21+ combination costs less and offers plenty of connectivity and power, although it lacks the Michi’s newer industrial design, display, and more upscale presentation.
What makes the P430 and S430 interesting is therefore not some revolutionary new amplifier technology. Michi is combining traditional high-current Class AB amplification with a genuinely modern preamplifier and packaging the two as a serious high-end separates system without pushing the price into the increasingly absurd territory occupied by many flagship components.
For the audiophile who wants the flexibility and upgrade path of separates, needs both digital and analog connectivity, and likes the idea of Michi without paying Reference Series money, the P430 and S430 make a compelling case on paper. The next question is the one that actually matters: how do they sound?
