HDMI 2.2 doubles maximum bandwidth from 48Gbps to 96Gbps, creating additional headroom for higher resolutions, faster refresh rates and more demanding color formats. That includes applications such as uncompressed 4K at 240Hz and 8K at 60Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma, while also preparing the standard for future display and gaming hardware.
The more immediate issue is verification. The HDMI market has never lacked products making ambitious performance claims, and the new Ultra96 certification program is designed to make those claims easier to trust. Each model and length must pass compliance testing and carry an authentication label, giving buyers a way to confirm that the product meets the new standard rather than simply taking the packaging at face value.
Silkland has now introduced its H96 series, with the S2705 2 meter and S2707 3 meter models among the first Certified Ultra96 HDMI products available to consumers. The company also offers 1 and 1.5 meter versions, with additional lengths expected to follow.
At 96Gbps, maintaining signal integrity becomes more difficult as cable length increases, so launching with two individually certified lengths is an engineering achievement as well as a market first for Silkland.

Double the Bandwidth of HDMI 2.1: Each H96 cable can carry signals at up to 96Gbps, twice the 48Gbps maximum supported by Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cables designed for HDMI 2.1.
Expanded Resolution Support: The H96 supports uncompressed 4K at 240Hz and 8K at 60Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma. Using DSC (Display Stream Compression), it can handle up to 4K at 480Hz, 8K at 240Hz and 16K at 60Hz.
AV Sync and Gaming Features: The H96 supports HDMI 2.2’s Latency Indication Protocol (LIP), which is designed to improve synchronization between audio and video. It also retains key HDMI 2.1 features, including VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), QMS (Quick Media Switching) and eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel).
The H96 is backward compatible with existing HDMI devices, including current 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 hardware, while providing the additional bandwidth required by future 96Gbps HDMI 2.2 products expected to begin reaching consumers in 2027.
“Every new HDMI generation starts with the same question: is it certified — and can I actually buy it?” said Vincent, CEO of Silkland. “Today the answer to both is yes. The H96 isn’t a ‘coming soon’ page — it’s certified, labeled, and on sale today. Scan it yourself.”
Pro Tip: Any current or forthcoming Certified Ultra96 HDMI cables are backward compatible. If you want to buy one now to future proof your setup, it will still work with earlier HDMI versions supported by your existing hardware, including TVs, AVRs and media players. You simply will not gain access to HDMI 2.2 features until the source and display components in the chain support them as well.
The release of the Silkland H96 line continues the company’s record of certification firsts, including the first VESA certified 2m DP80 cable and the first USB-IF certified 1.5m USB4 80Gbps cable.

The Bottom Line
HDMI 2.2 has been on the roadmap since 2025, but the hardware required to take advantage of it remains largely absent. We are still waiting for TVs, AVRs, video projectors, gaming hardware and source components that can actually use the additional bandwidth and features offered by the new specification.
That makes the Silkland H96 unusual. Rather than waiting for the rest of the industry to catch up, Silkland has brought a Certified Ultra96 HDMI cable to market first. Each certified model and length has been tested under the official HDMI certification program and can support up to 96Gbps, twice the maximum bandwidth of today’s Ultra High Speed HDMI cables.
Does that mean you need one today? For almost everyone, no. HDMI 2.1 and its 48Gbps ceiling remain more than sufficient for current TVs, home theater systems, game consoles and media players. Even serious home theater enthusiasts and gamers are unlikely to require 96Gbps in the immediate future. HDMI 2.2 becomes more interesting for professional content creation, extremely high refresh rate gaming and future display formats that push beyond what HDMI 2.1 can handle.
The H96 therefore makes the most sense for someone wiring a new theater, gaming room or installation today who would rather not replace the cable buried behind a wall when HDMI 2.2 hardware finally arrives. Because Ultra96 cables remain backward compatible with existing HDMI equipment, there is little downside beyond paying for performance that your current components cannot yet use.
Silkland may have arrived at the party before the TVs, AVRs and game systems, but somebody had to bring the cable.
