Lifestyle laser projectors are becoming a more competitive alternative to large TVs, with designs that address familiar projection headaches: finding space, aligning the image, and setting up without a permanent ceiling mount. JMGO’s new IRIS Ultra and IRIS Ultra Max target that demand with a compact gimbal design and 4K at 120Hz support, adding faster refresh rates over the JMGO N3 Ultimate, which is priced in between at $2,999 and looks identical.
Starting at $2,400 for the Ultra and $3,500 for the Ultra Max, these laser projectors aim to make movies, gaming, and sports easier to accommodate in everyday living spaces. Easier setup is welcome; at these prices, the picture still has to earn its place.

JMGO IRIS Pairs 4K at 120Hz with VRR, ALLM, and Dolby Vision
As big screen entertainment enters the high frame rate era, demand for greater motion clarity is pushing beyond conventional 60Hz projectors, especially for gaming. JMGO says its IRIS Series projectors deliver true 4K at 120Hz from input to output using dual-DLPC architecture and the JMGO HyperPulse Actuator, which shifts pixels 480 times per second to preserve full 4K detail at 120Hz.
For gaming, VRR and ALLM complement 4K gameplay at up to 120fps, supporting smoother motion and more responsive control. JMGO also claims a world first with Dolby Vision support at 4K at 120Hz, combining Dolby Vision HDR with high refresh rate performance.
For movies and sports, 4K at 120Hz MEMC (Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation) is designed to keep fast action, including ball movement in football and baseball, and camera pans smooth and clear. Hardware-level Anti-RBE technology reduces visible rainbow artifacts for greater viewing comfort, with no additional operational noise, according to JMGO.
Triple Laser
Beyond high refresh rates and motion handling, JMGO’s IRIS Series projectors feature a MALC 6.0 Triple-Laser Engine, which the company says delivers deeper blacks, sufficient brightness for daytime viewing, and lifelike color.

Triple Laser Engine Targets Higher Brightness and Deeper Blacks
JMGO specifies a native contrast ratio of 10,000:1 for the IRIS Ultra Max and up to 7,000:1 for the IRIS Ultra. Both feature a Dual-Iris system with a 15-blade (6+9) design, which the company says improves stray light suppression by 11.34% compared with a 12-blade (6+6) configuration. Six levels of iris adjustment allow users to tailor brightness and contrast to different content and viewing environments.
JMGO’s AI DBL Technology is designed to optimize each zone within every frame. According to the company, this helps reveal more detail in dark scenes while preserving natural skin tones and lifelike facial textures.
JMGO rates the IRIS Ultra Max at 6,500 ISO lumens and the IRIS Ultra at 4,500 ISO lumens, providing light output intended for viewing in brighter rooms. The company also claims 110% of the BT.2020 color gamut and color accuracy of approximately ΔE 0.7 for both models.
Image Placement
The JMGO IRIS Ultra Max carries over the N3 Ultimate’s 3-in-1 optical system, combining optical zoom with a 0.88–1.7:1 throw ratio, four-way lens shift (vertical ±130%, horizontal ±53%), and an AI-powered gimbal with 360° pan and 150° tilt. The IRIS Ultra uses a manual gimbal with 360° pan and 135° tilt.
AI Screen Fitting automatically adjusts the image to fit the screen, while AI Spatial Image Memory saves and recalls projection positions and apps for different walls.
The IRIS Ultra shares the Ultra Max’s optical zoom and four-way lens shift but uses a manual gimbal in place of the motorized, AI-powered version. Both models support image sizes from 40 to 300 inches, with placement dependent on the desired image size and available projector-to-screen distance.

Wireless & Wired Connectivity
The JMGO IRIS Series projectors feature two-way Bluetooth 5.4, allowing both models to function as Bluetooth speakers or transmit audio to external Bluetooth speakers and headphones. Each includes a Bluetooth remote with voice control.
Built-in Wi-Fi provides access to Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and other streaming apps through Google TV. HDMI and USB 3.0 connections support wired sources, while HDMI eARC allows audio output to a compatible soundbar or AV receiver.
Audio
The IRIS Ultra Max and Ultra each feature a two-channel speaker system rated at 12.5 watts per channel, with bass extension down to 35Hz, according to JMGO. Both models support Dolby Audio and DTS:X.

The Bottom Line
The JMGO IRIS Ultra and Ultra Max make their strongest case by combining claimed 4K at 120Hz output with optical zoom, lens shift, and flexible gimbal placement. That combination addresses two practical problems: getting a large image positioned correctly and preserving 4K detail during high refresh rate gaming. JMGO uses pixel shifting to achieve that output, so describing these as “native 4K” projectors would be misleading.
The Ultra Max adds a motorized gimbal and higher claimed brightness and contrast, but the less expensive Ultra retains much of the core appeal. What neither provides is a complete surround sound system; budget for external audio if you want movie soundtracks to match the picture’s scale. A suitable screen and control over ambient light also remain part of the equation. Even 6,500 claimed ISO lumens cannot negotiate with sunlight.
For buyers prioritizing gaming and flexible placement, the IRIS Series deserves attention. Whether the Ultra Max justifies the premium will depend on measured brightness, black levels, and input lag. The feature list is persuasive; the performance still has to deliver.
