ELAC Concentro M 807 at High End Munich 2025: Not That ELAC—The Other One (With the Sculpted Aluminum and Swagger)

ELAC Concentro M 807: Looks like a spaceship, sounds like a weapon. High-end tech and bold design collide at High End Munich 2025. Ready to be wowed?

ELAC Concentro M 807 Loudspeakers in four different finishes

This isn’t Andrew Jones’ ELAC. It’s the other one—the one that never left Germany, never compromised, and never cared if it fit in your living room. The ELAC Concentro series has always represented the pinnacle of German loudspeaker design—equal parts audacious sculpture and acoustic science experiment. Born as a showpiece for ELAC’s 90th anniversary, the original Concentro wasn’t trying to win hearts. Fast forward to 2025, and the new Concentro M 807 is ELAC’s gift to itself ahead of its 99th birthday.

It’s a bold reminder that this isn’t your entry-level Debut gear—this is the high-end, German-engineered division that never left Kiel.

Luxury Design That Doesn’t Whisper—It Roars

Designed in partnership with a top-tier Hamburg design studio, the Concentro M 807 is what happens when industrial art and acoustic science shack up in a wind tunnel. Available in high-gloss black or white with precision aluminum accents, the cabinet’s graceful curves and angled planes look like they were carved by wind and time—but they’re actually engineered to reduce diffraction and optimize dispersion. Beauty meets brutalist acoustic intention.

VXe Technology

Under the hood—if you can call that sculpture a hood—is ELAC’s latest innovation: VXe Technology. At its core, a six-driver midrange array (the VXe 6) encircles the revered JET 6c tweeter in a concentric arrangement. It’s a full-frontal assault on bland soundstaging.

Five user-selectable modes control the radiation pattern, letting you dial in just the right balance of direct and diffuse sound. Whether you’re trying to impress your friends or just melt into the music with lights off and whiskey in hand, the M 807 adjusts to your space like it knows what you need before you do.

Dual 250mm Woofers That Don’t Ask—They Demand

The Concentro M 807 isn’t here for background music. It’s armed with dual 250mm (10″) aluminum sandwich woofers that are impulse-compensated—because one massive driver shaking the cabinet just wasn’t extreme enough. This setup delivers subterranean bass without the mud or bloat. It’s the kind of low-end that makes your walls sweat but somehow keeps it tight, clean, and surgical. Thunder with manners.

ELAC knows most rooms aren’t acoustically treated palaces. That’s why the M 807 fires its bass downward like it’s laying carpet bombs under your floorboards—without the usual corner chaos. The down-firing bass reflex system minimizes room-induced resonance and helps these beasts behave wherever you park them. Apartment dwellers, you’ve been warned.

Crossover Network

Tucked inside the rigid aluminum chassis of the Concentro M 807 is a meticulously engineered crossover network, designed and voiced by ELAC’s R&D team in Kiel. This isn’t off-the-shelf circuitry—every component was selected for performance, longevity, and signal integrity. Premium film capacitors ensure low dielectric absorption, air-core inductors eliminate saturation, and MOX resistors maintain thermal stability even under demanding playback conditions.

The result is precise phase alignment and seamless integration across all four driver sections. Transitions between woofers, midranges, and the JET 6c tweeter are handled with surgical accuracy, preserving tonal balance and spatial coherence at any volume. This is engineering-driven voicing—refined, resolved, and relentlessly optimized.

Crystal Membrane Midbass: Built Like a Diamond, Hits Like a Sledgehammer

ELAC’s crystal membrane driver doesn’t just look like it was grown in a Bond villain’s lab—it acts like it too. The faceted surface stiffens the aluminum dome for lower distortion and higher dynamics, while the sandwich construction shrugs off coloration. Throw in long-excursion surround design and a voice coil that’s basically an overachiever, and you’ve got a driver that punches out high-SPL without flinching. It’s brutal—but beautiful.

JET 6 Tweeter: Speed Kills (Distortion)

Then there’s the JET 6 tweeter—ELAC’s crown jewel of high-frequency precision. Unlike soft dome tweeters that can blur transient detail, the JET 6 uses a folded ribbon Air Motion Transformer design for ultra-fast response and wide dynamic range. It moves air with far less excursion, resulting in lower distortion, higher efficiency, and treble extension well beyond the limits of human hearing.

Translation: this tweeter doesn’t just play cymbals—it reveals the texture of the stick hitting the metal. Smear? Not here. This is schmeer-free listening—unless you’re talking bagels. In the M 807, the JET 6 delivers surgical precision, crystalline clarity, and that holographic top-end that audiophiles chase for decades.

The Bottom Line

Yes, the Concentro M 807 looks like it was designed by a team of alien architects who moonlight as industrial sculptors—but under that bold, sci-fi exterior is some of the most advanced acoustic engineering ELAC has ever done. From the VXe concentric array to the JET 6 tweeter and dual impulse-compensated woofers, this isn’t just a conversation piece—it’s a precision-built sonic weapon. Looks wild. Sounds even wilder.

Elac’s Jet tweeters are the best I ever heard anywhere, as I recall. Would love to audition these beasts, but alas, no dealer will stock anything that costly in most cases (over $60K CAD) and Vancouver does not host any hifi shows for whatever reason. It’s not as though we have a shortage of zillionaires in this town.

That VXE technology with the Heil-like tweeter looks very very similar to Tekton Design speakers who have had a similar design for years sans Heil tweeter.
