Wilson Audio Sabrina V Arrives to Retire the X—Because Even $20K Speakers Need a Glow-Up Eventually

Wilson Audio Sabrina V features the same 8-inch woofer as the Sasha V and WATT/Puppy, delivering agile, authoritative, and textured bass for audiophiles seeking precision low-end performance.

Wilson Audio Sabrina V Speaker - Colors

Wilson Audio dropped the Sabrina X back in 2020, and like most things bearing the Wilson name, it didn’t exactly come cheap. But it earned its place, staying in the lineup for five solid years—no small feat in a market that chews up and spits out “flagship killers” every six months. Still, even speakers that cost as much as a decent used car eventually get the refresh treatment. Enter the new Sabrina V for 2025, stepping in to replace the X with refinements that Wilson claims push performance even further… just don’t expect the price of admission to get any more forgiving.

Wilson Audio claims the new Sabrina V is engineered to defy expectations, offering sonic performance and musical realism well beyond what its modest 39 x 12 x 25 3/8-inch footprint might suggest. Let’s pull back the velvet curtain and see what makes this latest floorstander tick.

H-Material

The Sabrina V swaps out the SabrinaX’s front baffle X-Material for Wilson’s new H-Material—a high-density composite that blends organic and phenolic elements. It’s a little softer than X-Material, which Wilson says allows for more midrange musicality. In plain terms: it’s engineered to sound a bit warmer and more natural, without giving up the structural integrity needed for accurate playback. Think of it as X-Material’s more laid-back cousin—still tough, just less uptight.

Connection Panel Access

The Sabrina V relocates its resistor access to the rear panel, ditching the bottom-mounted setup used in the Sabrina X. This makes servicing and fine-tuning much less of a contortionist act. Wilson now uses premium tool-less thumbscrews to secure the resistors, making midrange and tweeter swaps quicker and more convenient—no hex wrenches or yoga poses required.

Acoustic Diode Design

Wilson Audio carries over its Acoustic Diode isolation tech to the Sabrina V but ups the ante by incorporating V-Material into the bottom of the enclosure. The result? Better vibration control and lower mechanical noise. This means a blacker background and cleaner, more defined sound—because the last thing you want interfering with your music is your speaker wobbling like it’s had too much espresso.

Woofer Capacitor Upgrade

Wilson Audio equips the Sabrina V with a newly designed woofer capacitor built using the same proprietary tech as its revered midrange capacitors from Reliable Capacitors (yes, that’s Wilson’s own division). The goal? Seamless integration between bass and midrange frequencies. The result? A low end that doesn’t just thump—it sings, blends, and breathes in lockstep with the rest of the sonic picture. It’s not just low-frequency support—it’s bass with brains.

Convergent Synergy Carbon Tweeter

Trickled down from the flagship Alexx V, the Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter makes its way into the Sabrina V. This isn’t your average high-frequency driver—it’s a lightly coated textile dome that delivers airy, extended highs with precision and finesse. More importantly, it integrates effortlessly with the AlNiCo midrange and 8-inch woofer, creating a cohesive, natural soundstage. Expect crystalline treble, refined harmonic nuance, and a sense of space so convincing you might start checking for hidden microphones in your listening room.

Midrange

Wilson Audio has dropped its trusty 7-inch AlNiCo (Aluminum-Nickel-Cobalt) QuadraMag midrange driver into the Sabrina V. This isn’t just any driver—it first debuted in the Chronosonic XVX and has since made cameos in the Alexx V, Alexia V, Sasha V, and The WATT/Puppy. The AlNiCo QuadraMag is famed for its smooth, stable linearity, which means you get more depth, dimensionality, and that elusive “real” sound that separates the serious from the casual audiophile crowd.

Woofer

The Sabrina V rocks the same 8-inch woofer found in the Sasha V and The WATT/Puppy. This woofer doesn’t just grunt; it anchors the low end with a mix of agility and authority, delivering bass that’s not only deep but articulate and textured—because nobody wants sloppy boom when they’re paying top dollar.

Crossover Components

The crossover components for the Sabrina V incorporate Reliable Capacitors’ AudioCapX-WA capacitors. The capacitors are wound at Wilson Audio to extremely tight tolerances specifically for this product, thus increasing low-level resolution.

The Bottom Line

The Wilson Audio Sabrina X was already a pretty impressive floorstander, but after five years, even a classic needs a facelift — enter the Sabrina V. It builds on the solid foundation of the Sabrina X while sneakily borrowing tech and tweaks from Wilson’s pricier siblings. The end result? A high-end cocktail of design, tech, and performance that’ll have audiophiles drooling over their two-channel setups.

Of course, the catch here is the price: the Sabrina V arrives with a cool $10,000 premium over the Sabrina X. Because why settle for a great speaker when you can pay for bragging rights, right? That said, Wilson might keep the Sabrina X around a bit longer for those of us whose budgets don’t include the phrase “jumbo mortgage.”

Wilson’s given us the teaser info, but the full story—along with whatever sonic sorcery they’ve saved up—won’t be revealed until June 20, 2025. What other secrets does the Sabrina V have hidden in its luxurious cabinet? Stay tuned… and maybe start saving.
