LG Adds Amazon Luna Gaming to Its Smart TVs

LG Smart TVs from 2021 and newer can now play video games from the cloud via Amazon Luna.

To say that PC and video gaming is popular is an understatement, and in the past couple of years, TV manufacturers have accelerated the incorporation of gaming capabilities in their TVs with added features such as VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), and QFT (Quick Frame Transport) that further support the gaming experience.

An increasing number of today’s TVs can not only accept the connection of gaming consoles but increasingly provide onboard cloud gaming services as well.

LG currently incorporates G-SYNC compatibility and gaming content from NVIDIA GeForce NOW (HD), FreeSync™ Premium, Blacknut, Utomik, Twitch, YouTube, and has recently added NVIDIA GeForce Now in 4K and Boosteroid. Now, LG has announced the inclusion of the Amazon Luna gaming service.

Amazon Luna lets you play your favorite games straight from the cloud.

Tip: Amazon Luna has already been available on Samsung TVs, so LG is playing a little catch-up on this one.

LG Smart TV 2021 and newer models running webOS 6.0 or higher in the United States can access Luna gaming from the LG Content Store. However, if you own a 2023 LG Smart TV, Luna can be accessed directly from the Home Screen Game Card.

With Amazon Luna, Amazon Prime members can play Fortnite and a rotating selection of games at no additional cost.

To use Luna on an LG TV, users can connect a Luna Controller, a compatible Bluetooth-enabled controller, or the Luna Phone Controller app. The app is available as a free download in the iOS, Android, and Amazon app stores.

Gaming on LG TVs builds on the capabilities of their UltraGear™ gaming monitors for PC gaming that were first introduced in 2018. LG has continued its UltraGear line with the LG OLED Flex Bendable Monitor and LED/LCD 49GR85DC-B32:9 Curved Screen Gaming Monitor

However, to bring gaming to a wider user base, LG has been very aggressive in incorporating gaming capabilities into its smart TVs. Check out the related reading section below for info on LG’s OLED TV line-up which all include gaming features, including Amazon Luna.
