Paradigm Announces Two Reference In-wall Speakers

Paradigm now offers complete Signature and Studio Custom Series in-wall surround sound experiences, highlighted by their latest addition, ‘reverberant’ Adapted DiPole (ADP) technology surround speakers.

Toronto, Canada — October 1, 2008 – Paradigm Electronics Inc., an international leader in speaker design and manufacturing, today added new reverberant surround/rear speakers to its Signature (SIG) and Studio (SA) Custom Series of in-wall speakers. Paradigm’s exclusive Adapted DiPole (ADP) design, combined with new midrange driver technology and industry-leading construction materials, enable the SIG and SA series ADP speakers to set the industry standard for custom-installed, in-wall surrounds.

Since the ADP technology was unveiled on traditional-box style surround speakers over fifteen years ago, countless Paradigm dealers and customers have requested the technology be developed for an in-wall speaker. Not content to integrate the ADP technology hastily just to meet a ship date, Paradigm invested significant resources to develop these SIG and SA series in-wall surround speakers to be the sonic equivalent of their wall-mounted/ stand-mounted brethren. Blind listening tests confirm this. New design elements for both the SIG and SA Series custom speakers include new dual voice coils as well as elongated, slimline cones with new aluminum couplers.

“Too many builders and system installers settle for low-end sound in their high-end projects,” said Paradigm’s Marketing Manager, Mark Aling. “As the market for multi-room audio and concealable electronics grows, it’s important for people to understand that they do not need to sacrifice sound quality just because they are setting up multiple zones or creating a home theater with no visible electronics or speakers. Architectural sound never should be mediocre by default.”

With 15 years dedicated to manufacturing the best value in loudspeakers, Paradigm understands the different role each speaker plays in sound reproduction. Surround speakers are expected to play different roles in movie audio versus multi-channel music reproduction, a fact that can pigeohole some in-wall speakers as good for one application, bad for another. Fortunately Paradigm’s SIG and SA ADP in-wall models don’t discriminate. For a home theater experience, the new in-wall ADPs envelop the listener in sound without detracting from the action onscreen. The speakers add size and dimension to the soundstage to ensure seamless transitions when sound and effects move from the front and center speakers to the side and rear speakers. Multi-channel audio flourishes because of the ADP’s ability to create a large, non-localized soundfield. The larger “sweet spot” sounds even more impressive as the speakers contribute multi-dimensional realism to the reproduction of an original recording’s acoustic space.

ADP Technology
The technology in the new in-wall ADPs mimics that of other Reference and Reference Signature Series Models, delivering no-compromise sound from a minimalist aesthetic. Each SIG and SA series ADP speaker features a seven-driver, three-way configuration that benefits from Paradigm’s Ultra-Rigid die-cast chassis/mounting bracket, which completely eliminates resonance or sonic degradations created by the wall or ceiling. The ADP technology in these new models makes them ideal for surround and rear applications by delivering a “reverberant” energy field (sound reflects off walls and ceilings naturally, as it would in a live experience) that is in complete harmony with that of the left, right and center speakers. Since one listens to the sum of averaged energy, phase differences simply “wash out” making right and left versions of the ADP’s unnecessary.
