Orange Amplification (OA) has been making guitar and bass amplifiers since 1968 and has a reputation for delivering innovative technology and components built with attention to detail and quality. Known as one of the leading British guitar amplifier manufacturers for both design and build, OA brings performance stages and studios to life.
Orange Amplification is also expanding its offerings into the consumer A/V category with a compact new system that caught our attention.
The Pyramid Audio System is the latest entry which OA claims is a revolutionary compact hi-fi system delivering powerful sound and exceptional connectivity.
Pyramid Audio System
The Pyramid amplifier is designed with a special wave-balanced “analog sound spectrum.”
At the heart of Pyramid Audio System is an amplifier capable of delivering 40W RMS per channel amplifier (4 Ohms).
The pyramid-shaped amplifier is designed to be eco-friendly, cool-running, and highly efficient. It has a wood cabinet with a white piano finish and a prism at the top which glows indicating the mode of operation.
The Pyramid Audio System incorporates Wireless Connectivity via Bluetooth 5.0. Bluetooth pairing support provides a quick and universal connection to all music services. Some compatible music services include Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer. Music from your local library is also accessible.
Wired connectivity includes RCA and Aux 3.5mm inputs for connection of turntables, CD players, and more. The Pyramid amp can also connect with a TV via RCA or 3.5 mm inputs for a great sounding alternative to a soundbar.
Volume is controlled by a traditional retro-looking knob on the front of the Pyramid amp. There are also treble and bass controls at the rear of the unit; allowing users to better personalize their sound. There is also a left/right channel balancing dial and a Bluetooth reset button.
The included “Voice of the World” bookshelf speakers have been engineered to deliver a clean warm sound. 1-inch soft silk dome tweeters balanced reproduction of the high frequencies, while bass reflex ports and improved speaker cone excursion provide a smooth transitional bass response with support for better mid-spread.

Initial Thoughts
The Orange Amplification Pyramid Audio System definitely has a nice visual appeal. To me it combines retro and modern styling with some interesting accents.
On paper, it also looks like the system is capable of delivering great sound from its compact form factor, but one connection option we would have liked to have seen to make it even more flexible as a possible soundbar substitute would be the inclusion of HDMI-ARC/eARC in addition to the provided analog and digital optical connections.
Also, although it does provide Bluetooth support, built-in Wi-Fi would have been nice for possible network connectivity for playback from even more sources.
That being said, the system is being offered at a reasonable price point.
Availability and Pricing
The Pyramid Audio System is available directly from Orange Amplication, for £795.00 GBP (about $1,000 USD).

Talk about a product that misses the mark! No HDMI or optical connections, amazing. This product is going into a very competitive space. For half the price the Q Acoustics M20 is far more interesting. For $,1000, the KEF LSX2 LT embarrasses this product.
However, I am certain this product will sell to the person who prioritizes its aesthetics. Heck, I’ll bet they never even turn it on. 🙂
