LG’s TV and Display Lineup at CEDIA 2023 Has Us Very Excited About the Future of TV

At CEDIA 2023 we got our first look at LG Electronics’ latest TVs and monitors featuring bendable and wireless technology.

LG 97-inch M3 Wireless TV at CEDIA 2023

CEDIA 2023 is in full swing and there is no question that LG came to Denver with some of the most impressive TVs and displays currently available. The Korean manufacturer along with LG Display continues to expand into other display categories and manufacture panels for some of its bigger rivals, including Samsung.

Walking through its booth reinforces the point that TV technology has advanced beyond all of our expectations over the past decade and that consumers have never had this much choice. Not all of it is accessible at this point because of price but consumers will soon have access to TVs between 97″ and 118″ that will provide a huge shot in the arm for the home theater category.

Not everyone wants a projector or has the space for a dedicated home theater room, but it will become much easier to sell consumers on the “big screen” TV living room concept once they get to experience the image quality of these very thin panels.

That sounds very 1990s in some respects but consumers consider 65-inch TVs to be the new “norm” even for the bedroom in North America in 2023 so we’re definitely trending larger.

So what did LG bring to Denver that really stood out?

For me, the big attraction wasn’t the largest TV or display, but one of the smallest: The StanbyMe GO. In our previous report, we provided the basics, but seeing it in person was actually more impressive.

This wireless TV has a 27-inch 1080p touchscreen and is packed within a suitcase. Why would you need a 30 lbs TV that comes in a suitcase and run for three hours on a built-in battery power or unlimited time on AC – LG has some suggestions:

  • Tailgating
  • Camping
  • RV traveling
  • One-on-one Business Presentations
  • Classroom instruction
  • Home Office (move the display around the house as needed)
  • Dorm Room or Studio apartment
  • Small Patio

With its touchscreen, landscape, or portrait orientation options, this display might be very useful for some people.

I also got a chance to sit down with the LG OLED Flex LX3 Gaming Monitor. This monitors bends to provide a visually immersive gaming experience as well a flat appearance for both traditional PC and TV viewing use. Not only is the image quality superb with gaming, but it also provides an excellent desktop experience for those who need multiple windows open at the same time whilst watching TV.

Moving to the larger offerings, LG showed a new 77-inch version of its previously announced 97-inch M3 Series Zero-Connection “wireless TV”. It was also revealed that the M3 series is using the same panel that is featured in their high-end LG G3 series OLED TVs which provides the benefits of OLED META Technology.

Going bigger, LG also displayed its new 118-inch Magnit MicroLED TV. Visually impressive – but if you have to ask the price you can’t afford it ($237,000). Of course you need a $50,000 pair of Bang & Olufsen Beolab 50 loudspeakers, which are WiSA-enabled to go with it.

The Micro LED market is going to expand rather significantly over the next 5 years as prices begin to fall; the ability to create any size you require will be a huge plus for consumers with deeper pockets.
