Following the release of the ELAC/ADSUM Special Edition ConneX powered speakers, ELAC is releasing two new speaker lines for 2024, the Vela (2.0), Solano (2.0), and an addition to the Elegant line, the ELAC BS 312.2.

Speaker Configuration: The BS312.2 is a 2-Way, Bass Reflex bookshelf class speaker.
Cabinet: The BS 312.2 incorporates a high-rigidity aluminum cabinet with a low material thickness that enables a unique cabinet shape. The minimal front baffle creates a scenario where the drivers do not interact as much with the speaker cabinet and listeners should hear a more focused and airy sound as a result.
Tweeter: The BS 312.2 is equipped with ELAC’s 6th generation JET 6 tweeter. Utilizing Air Motion technology, the JET 6 is designed to deliver precise highs. The JET 6 also has an extended tweeter low-frequency range for smoother transition (in conjunction with the speaker crossover) to the mid-frequencies. Other benefits include improved signal accuracy, ultra-fast transient response, and detailed resolution.

Woofer: The woofer of the BS312.2 incorporates a Crystal Membrane with AS-XR Technology that provides increased stiffness.
The Aluminum Sandwich Membrane supports an Extended frequency range (XR) with smooth roll-off. Other features include a larger voice coil and an additional magnet ring which supports superior efficiency and higher thermal resilience. As a result, the woofer can play louder and longer without compromising speaker linearity.
Alrulastic Base: The base of the BS 312.2 combines an aluminum frame with an elastic rubber structure inlay to support acoustic decoupling. The base is available in White High Gloss or Black High Gloss.
The quoted sensitivity (87 dB) and nominal impedance of 4 ohms would suggest that these stand-mounted loudspeakers will require at least 50 watts per channel and it would be our recommendation based on past experience with other ELAC models that listeners aim slightly higher in that regard. The neutral tonal balance will require some careful system matching.
