In what might be one of the weirdest-looking audio products ever released, innovative vacuum cleaner and bladeless fan maker Dyson has unleashed its Dyson Zone Headphones with Air Purification which are designed to provide users with an immersive personalized listening experience while fighting the effects of air pollution at the same time.
The Dyson Zone can be worn as headphones only (thank goodness!) or can be paired with the detachable visor for the additional benefit of purified air delivered to your breathing zone.

Scientific Audio Engineering: Dyson states that the Dyson Zone is the result of years of research and development to ensure that first and foremost the headphones deliver ultra-low distortion, advanced noise cancellation, and faithful, full-spectrum audio reproduction. The headphones deliver immersive audio and relief from unwanted city noise with advanced active noise canceling (ANC), low distortion, and neutral frequency response for accurate sound reproduction.
High-efficiency Air filtration: The precision-engineered compressors in each earcup draw air through dual-layer Electrostatic filters and project two streams of purified air to the wearer’s nose and mouth, channeled through the non-contact visor. The Electrostatic filters capture 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns1, and the K-Carbon, potassium-enriched carbon filters capture prevalent gases most associated with city pollution, including NO2 and SO2.
Tip: Dyson claims that filter efficiency tested to ISO 29463 adapted at max flow setting by an independent third-party laboratory. Capture rates may differ depending on real-life usage.
The My Dyson App: This provides real-time feedback and control. Ther app can be used to adjust the airflow speed, switch between transparency and isolation mode, adapt equalization to preference, and more. An onboard sensor in the headphones monitors the air for NO2 levels, which is via the app, along with real-time environmental noise levels. The app is available for iOS and Android.
