CanJam NYC 2022: Astell & Kern ACRO BE100 Bluetooth Speaker

CanJam NYC 2022 has begun and Astell & Kern have introduced the ACRO BE100 Bluetooth Speaker for $499 USD.

Astell&Kern ACRO BE100 Bluetooth Speaker Lifestyle in Black

When you think of Astell & Kern, portable high-end DAPs usually come to mind, but they have branched out over the years and introduced products like In-Ear monitors, Headphones, Headphone amps, Network Audio players, and more.

However, at CanJam NYC 2022, they have announced their first Bluetooth speaker. Of course, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of Bluetooth speakers for consumers to choose from, so let’s find out what the Astell & Kern ACRO BE100 Bluetooth Speaker has to offer.

Core Features

Industrial Design: The BE100 looks both modern and retro at the same time. Its interesting box-like design harkens back to the days of table radios as well as being able to blend in with the modern decor. The BE100 comes in either white or black. The cabinet is made from machined aluminum.

32-bit DAC: You won’t find this on too many Bluetooth speakers. The DAC is designed to provide the best possible music listening experience.

Bluetooth: In addition to the high-end DAC, the BE100 has the distinction of being the first Bluetooth Speaker that supports both the aptX HD and LDAC audio codecs.

Amplifier: The BE100 comes equipped with a Class D amplifier that provides a 55-watt output (25W x 1 + 15W x 2).

Speaker Complement: You can have a great DAC and amp, but if the speakers aren’t up to the task, then all of that tech is for nothing. However, with a 4-inch Kevlar woofer (Which appears to be ported according to supplied images) and two 1.5-inch silk dome tweeters, Astell & Kern hopes you hear every note with precision.

Additional Inputs: In addition to Bluetooth, the BE100 also provides a 3.5 mm AUX audio input.

Controls and LED Display: Controls located at the top of the BE100 include Bluetooth pairing, bass, treble, and playback controls. In addition, multi-function control changes speaker modes, volume, and power on/off. The LED light surrounding the control wheel changes color and intensity when speaker settings or input settings are changed. No remote control is provided.

Tip: The BE100 optimizes sound reproduction depending on the source to further support a good listening experience. However, the BE100’s bass and treble adjustments allow further adjustment per your preference.
