CanJam SoCal 2021 is Officially Happening… Fingers Crossed

CanJam SoCal 2021 is a go down in Irvine on September 25th and we think this very important show has to happen for a myriad of reasons.

CANJAM 2021 Logos

We’re almost afraid to jinx ourselves but it would appear that CanJam SoCal 2021 is happening in September. The world’s premier headphone show is scheduled to take place on September 25th to the 26th at the Irvine Marriott Hotel in Irvine, California.

Let’s cut to the chase. The last major show to take place in N. America was the 2020 New York CanJam and we walked out of that show not knowing that a global pandemic was about to shut down the world only a few weeks later. Having attended 7 CanJam events, it’s our favorite high-end audio show for a number of reasons.

Jude Mansilla and Ethan Opolion have done a masterful job over the years turning this enthusiast show that grew out of the Head-Fi movement into a global powerhouse. If you love headphones, there is no better show.

This is also one of the few high-end audio shows with a lot of younger listeners and women customers. It has your typical audiophiles as well, but the audience represents a new generation of audiophiles and thank G-d for that.

It’s very exciting to see this show return and we will be there to cover it all.

Hopefully.

Why do I say that?

We attended our first trade show this past weekend in New York City since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and it was a mixed bag to say the least. This non-audio industry event was noticeably smaller than previous years and it was rocked by the announcement only days earlier that the 2021 New York Auto Show was being cancelled due to the increase in cases.

CanJam events are a lot smaller but there is a lot of contact with other attendees due to the venue size and the physical interaction with headphones and other components.

We’re not sure if the show will be enforcing masks and vaccination requirements but I would bet on masks at a minimum.

Let’s hope it happens because we’re getting tired of Zoom events.
