WiiM Sound Smart Speaker Launches with Room Correction, No AirPlay Support

At $299, the WiiM Sound features room correction, Wi-Fi 6E, stereo pairing and 5.1 setups, but lacks AirPlay, HDMI-ARC, and a phono input.

WiiM Sound Smart Speaker Lifestyle White

Since bursting onto the scene in 2021, WiiM has been shaking up the music streaming market with affordable gear that punches well above its price—starting at just $100. Their followers have only grown as each new product lands. At the 2025 High-End Munich show, they unveiled their first smart speaker, the WiiM Sound, a full-stack unit that combines streaming, amplification, and speakers in one tidy package.

Building on their streaming expertise—and the award-winning Ultra, Amp Ultra, Vibelink, and WiiM Amp Pro—WiiM is staking its claim as a one-stop source for smart, room-corrected audio, even if AirPlay fans will have to look elsewhere.

WiiM Sound: Smart Speaker with Room Correction and All-in-One Streaming

The core features of the WiiM Sound read like a smart speaker that should cost way more than its $299 price tag.

  • High-Resolution Wireless Streaming: Enjoy music, podcasts, Smart Preset, and radio in full 24-bit/192 kHz quality—no need to tether your smartphone to get the best sound.
  • Connectivity: The WiiM Sound covers all the bases with built-in Wi-Fi 6E, Ethernet, and Bluetooth. For wired sources, there’s a 3.5 mm analog stereo input.
  • Room Correction (AIRoomFit): Optimize your listening environment with WiiM’s Room Correction system, which measures your room and makes custom adjustments for the best possible audio.
  • Sound Customization: Beyond room correction, you get 24 preset EQ profiles, a 10-band graphic EQ, and a parametric EQ to fine-tune the sound exactly how you like it.
  • Stereo Pairing: Pair two WiiM Sound speakers to create a left/right stereo setup and expand your soundstage.
  • Subwoofer Pairing: Connect the WiiM Sound to the upcoming WiiM Sub Pro for deeper, tighter bass.
  • Home Theater Integration: Use the WiiM Sound as a surround or center channel speaker in a Dolby 5.1 setup for a fully immersive home cinema experience.
  • Universal Casting Support: Stream directly from your favorite apps via Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, DLNA, or Alexa Cast.
  • Touch Display: A 1.8-inch round touch display shows album art, track info, EQ settings, room fit status, and even the time with alarm functionality.
  • WiiM Ecosystem: Full integration with the WiiM Home App gives you control over streaming, voice commands, EQ, stereo or surround setup, and multiroom audio.

The Bottom Line

The WiiM Sound Smart Speaker packs an impressive suite of practical features at $299, delivering high-resolution streaming, analog input support, room correction, and Wi-Fi 6E/Ethernet connectivity that even some $999 wireless speakers, like the KEF Coda W, don’t offer.

It can serve as a stereo or 5.1 channel surround speaker, but three notable omissions; AirPlay, a dedicated phono input, and HDMI-ARC, limit its appeal for some setups.

Compared with the Denon Home 150, which includes AirPlay for $199, the WiiM Sound lacks Apple ecosystem compatibility, though both can be used as single or stereo pairs. The Denon is also part of the growing number of wireless speakers and AVRs that support the HEOS wireless ecosystem.

Despite these gaps, WiiM’s aggressive approach and growing ecosystem including award-winning products like the Amp Ultra, Vibelink, and WiiM Pro Plus—position it as a practical, affordable contender that could challenge Sonos, HEOS, DTS Play-Fi, MusicCast, and Bluesound’s BluOS in the wireless streaming space.

Price & Availability

The WiiM Sound Smart Speaker is priced at $299 and will be available on Amazon starting October 28, 2025. U.S. shoppers, though, will have to wait a bit longer: the rollout has been delayed thanks to factors beyond WiiM’s control—namely, FCC clearance getting held up by the ongoing government shutdown. International markets are already seeing shipments, but here in the States, the feds apparently need a little more time to approve a smart speaker while the lights are flickering in Washington.

Where can I find the Denon home 150 with Airplay for 199? Most sites list it at 249.

The Denon Home 150NV was $180 during September, which was likely pre-tariff inventory. I bought one at BB and returned it within 48 hours. I found that it wasn’t all that stable as a product. Before I returned it, I did feed the analog output from a WiiM Mini into it and found it sounded much better than native HEOS on the 150.

    Hi Robert,

I think the intended market for the product isn’t as a soundbar replacement, but as part of a WiiM HT setup or as a standalone device. I think the win for something like this is in a guest room, bedroom, or kitchen. I have a few Panasonic SC-NP10 systems I use for that purpose.

For $600, a pair moves them into the range of some good all-in-one systems that will sound better, e.g., Q Acoustics M20 HD and a WiiM Mini, which is an excellent small audio system.

      Larry,

I have a pair of Q Acoustics M20 HD on my desktop on Iso-Acoustic stands connected to a WiiM Pro Plus. Sounds great. Excellent advice.
