The Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G loudspeakers are now available and we can think of a few amplifiers that would work really well with these.

British loudspeaker manufacturer, Monitor Audio, has pulled back the curtains on the 7th generation of its best-selling Silver Series range with 9 new models including the Silver 300 7G Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 home theater system (pictured above). The Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G Range features its latest metal coned drivers with Rigid Surface Technology II for a cleaner and more detailed sound.

The 10 new models are offered with either real wood veneers or more modern looking painted cabinets; the white gloss looks especially striking in a modern setting.

The flagship Silver 500 7G features Rigid Surface Technology II that keeps the sound perfectly clear and controlled even at high volumes.

Key Features

  • 1 x 1″ (25 mm) C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter with Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide II for more lifelike sound
  • 1 x 3″ (76 mm) C-CAM mid-range driver with Rigid Surface Technology (RST) II for extra clarity
  • 2 x 8″ (203 mm) C-CAM bass driver with RST II for extra clarity
  • 3-way design with dedicated mid-range and bass drivers to deliver the ultimate refinement
  • Silver 500 7G has two 8” drivers and larger volume for more power and bass extension
  • Perfect for mid to large-sized room set-ups, either stereo or home cinema
  • Rear-ported and tuned for ease of positioning without affecting sound performance
  • Sturdy outrigger feet with a choice of spikes for carpets or rubber feet for hard floors

The Silver 500 7G have a 90 dB sensitivity rating (minimum impedance of 4 ohms) with a quoted frequency response of 27Hz to 35kHz. Digging a little deeper into the specifications, the Silver 500 7G require at least 100 watts/channel to really sing.

Our experience with other Monitor Audio loudspeakers like the acclaimed Bronze Series 200 would suggest that 100 watts might be a good starting point depending on the size of your room and your taste in music. Less will not be more in this particular case.

The Monitor Audio Silver Series 7G range also features the Silver 50 7G and Silver 100 7G stand-mounted loudspeakers for those looking for smaller (bookshelf) loudspeakers that can work in smaller living spaces or on a credenza as part of a 2.1 or 5.1.2 home theater system.
