France’s Cabasse is turning 75 this year (1950–2025), and instead of retiring quietly with a glass of Bordeaux and some Charles Aznavour, they’ve decided to go full War of the Worlds with the new LA SPHERE EVO. This isn’t your average loudspeaker—it’s a fully armed and operational orb that looks like it could either stream hi-res Qobuz or vaporize your neighbor’s cat.
Cabasse has been pushing this whole “space egg” design since 2006 with the original La Sphère, and the new Evo takes it further into the future (or maybe into orbit). It still features their signature quadri-coaxial technology, but now it’s self-contained—loaded with internal amplification, DSP, and native music streaming. Leave it to the French to build a loudspeaker that looks like it might judge your playlist and your taste in wallpaper.
Key Features:
Speaker Drivers
To deliver maximum precision and sonic purity, Cabasse developed ultra-high-performance drivers in-house at their Brest, Brittany facility. At the heart of the LA SPHERE EVO is the TCA tri-coaxial driver system—handling high, mid, and low-mid frequencies—with diaphragms crafted from aramid fiber for optimal stiffness, lightness, and damping.
This advanced driver, already used in Cabasse’s top-tier models, is engineered for exceptional tonal accuracy and timbral fidelity. Low frequencies are delivered by dual 30cm HELD woofers in a push-push configuration, designed to cancel out cabinet vibrations and maintain tight, controlled bass response at all listening levels.

What’s Inside the LA SPHERE EVO
Each speaker in the LA SPHERE EVO system packs four built-in amplifiers, delivering a mind-melting 10,200 watts RMS total—yes, you read that right—capable of hitting up to 127 dB. That’s concert-level loud, but with the kind of control that keeps things clean and precise.
The frequency range is equally wild: 14 Hz to 27,000 Hz. That means you’ll hear (and feel) everything from the deepest sub-bass rumble to shimmering highs that your dog might side-eye.
All the heavy lifting—amplification, DACs, DSP, and streaming—is tucked into a sleek 7 cm base. No external gear, no spaghetti mess of cables, no setup nightmare. Just plug it in and start listening.
Setup is a breeze, too. There’s a built-in mic inside each speaker that handles automatic room calibration, so it tailors the sound to your space without you lifting a finger—or breaking out the measuring tape.
Control is handled through the Cabasse StreamCONTROL app (iOS and Android), giving you full access to sound tweaks and streaming options. And yes, it’s Roon Ready and plays nice with Cabasse’s multiroom ecosystem, in case you feel like scattering more of these chrome-plated saucers around the house.
LA SPHERE EVO vs. LA SPHÈRE
The LA SPHERE EVO keeps the same intergalactic design language as the original—still very much a French UFO parked in your living room—but with some important upgrades that make it more practical and a little less… intimidating.
First off, the EVO is fully self-contained. That means no rack of external amps, DACs, or DSP units cluttering your room like you’re building a command center. Everything’s built in. You plug it in, stream your favorite hi-res tracks, and brace for impact.
Physically, it’s been downsized just enough to keep your chiropractor out of the equation. The original LA SPHÈRE was a 98 kg, 1.4-meter-tall beast. The EVO drops down to a still-hefty-but-less-insane 60 kg and a slightly more modest 1.34 meters tall. It’s like Cabasse put the original on a light diet—less baguette, more precision CNC machining.
Gone is the utilitarian central stand. In its place? A sculpted base inspired by Cabasse’s beloved Lissajous curves—think audio meets modern art. The mirror-polished chrome looks slick, but the real genius is how it hides all the wiring like a true Parisian hiding their cigarette smoke.
Even the grilles got a next-gen update: 3D-printed with elegant wave-like patterns that give you a peek at the driver tech inside—because of course they did. This is France. If you’re going to build a speaker that looks like it could talk to satellites, it better do it with style.

The Bottom Line
The Cabasse LA SPHERE EVO is an absolute tour de force—massive power, built-in everything, and a design that looks like it could beam you up if the music doesn’t already blow you away. It’s a huge step forward from the original, wrapping cutting-edge tech into a sci-fi sculpture worthy of a MoMA exhibit. But let’s be real: at $135,000, this isn’t just high-end—it’s warp-speed end. That’s over three times the price of Focal’s DIVA Utopia, which at a comparatively “reasonable” $40,000 a pair, even throws in built-in Wi-Fi.
And sure, the EVO is a spectacle—likely one of the biggest crowd-pullers at High End Munich 2025—but unless your checking account laughs at interest rates, you might want to admire from a safe distance. Maybe from Jersey. Preferably from across the river, where the housing market hasn’t been flattened by alien sound or second mortgages.
Also, a quick note to every high-end brand out there: can we ease up on the “EVO” label? It’s starting to feel like the Internet version of “i” from the early 2000s. We get it—it evolved.
Pricing & Availability
Designed and built in-house in France, each Cabasse LA SPHERE EVO loudspeaker is a celebration of the brand’s 75-year legacy. To mark the occasion, every unit comes with an individually numbered plaque mounted on its base—because if you’re dropping $135,000, you deserve a little more than just pristine sound. The system will officially launch in Q3 2025, with availability expected shortly after.

I love this design. All of the elements tie in so nicely, especially with the carryover of the round shape of the speakers right down to the circular base of the stand. And it’s all so beautifully connected by those cosmic silver ellipses.
At that price, I’ll never see them in my house but I can see someone designing a sci-fi or astronomy themed listening room around them.
I totally agree on the overuse of the term EVO for any product name in any industry.

David,
It scares the F out of me. LOL. Like I can’t imagine ever having a room that it would work in.
