The 2023 Florida International Audio Expo will be held in Tampa from February 17th through the 19th and the eCoustics team will be onsite to provide show coverage. Orchard Audio offers a limited range of power amplifiers and network players that will be on display for show attendees to enjoy and we’ve only heard good things about the PecanPi Network Player through the grapevine.

Orchard Audio sells direct to consumers through their website which enables them to keep the PecanPi Network Player at $649.95 USD and it can be customized for specific streaming platforms and is Roon-Tested. It supports up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM for hi-res playback, but does not support MQA. DSD is supported but not natively. All DSD files will be converted to PCM and will play.

Orchard Audio’s exhibit will feature:

  • Starkrimson Stereo Ultra: 500W gallium nitride (GaN) stereo audio power amplifier
  • Starkrimson Mono: 150W GaN monoblock audio power amplifier
  • PecanPi Streamer: Networked audio player (transport) with built-in DAC and headphone amplifier

The Starkrimson amps are fully analog, state-of-the-art GaN audio power amplifiers developed to provide the listener with a truly life-like musical experience, presented with every significant detail intact.

GaN technology benefits include less harshness, cleaner highs, better transparency, and higher detail. In addition to using GaN transistors, Starkrimson amps use Orchard Audio’s proprietary dual feedback modulator, keeping the amplifier fully balanced from input to output.

The Starkrimson Stereo Ultra Power Amplifier ($2,495.95) can output 250 watts into 8 ohms and 500 watts into 4 ohms; making it an intriguing review possibility with my Magnepan LRS.

For those with a smaller budget but the need for more power than the traditional AVR or integrated amplifier, the Starkrimson Mono Power Amplifiers output 150 watts into 8 ohms and are available for $1,599.95/pair.

Both amplifiers will use the company’s PecanPi Streamer as the source. The PecanPi Streamer is an ultra-high performance networked music player that combines a streamer, DAC, and headphone amplifier into a single device.

The PecanPi DAC brings studio-quality sound to your home. It can be connected to any existing stereo amplifier, preamplifier, or receiver, as well as headphones.

Orchard Audio will exhibit in room 506 at the Florida Audio Expo.

Speakers will be supplied by Soundfield Audio.
Cables will be provided by Triode Wire Labs.
