Sony SRS-X9, X7 and X5 Wireless Speakers

Sony SRS-X9

Sony today announced the SRS-X9, SRS-X7 and SRS-X5 table-top wireless speaker systems. The wireless speakers support aptX and AAC Bluetooth codecs to ensure high quality sound while streaming wirelessly. In addition, users with NFC-enabled smartphones and tablets can simply tap the wireless speaker with their device to instantly stream high-quality music. In select models, wireless music streaming is also supported through on-board WiFi (for direct access to online music and internet radio services such as Music Unlimited, Spotify, and TuneIn Radio with no PC required), as well as Apple Airplay and DLNA.

Sony’s flagship model SRS-X9 is the first wireless speaker in the industry to support High-Res Audio, taking sound quality to a level never experienced before in such a device. Converting live music to digital formats such as MP3 or even traditional CD results in much of the original audio being irreversibly lost. High-Res Audio retains far more detail during the analog-to-digital conversion process, allowing listeners to experience music as artists originally intended.

The premium WiFi-enabled SRS-X9 model incorporates Sony’s advanced Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE HX), which upscales the existing sound source to near High-Resolution sound quality. It refines and restores the audio signal to recreate the subtle high-frequency harmonics that are typically lost in heavily compressed MP3 and AAC files. With an impressive 154W of music output power, a bi-amped subwoofer, and dual passive radiators, the premium 2.1 channel system delivers powerful, full-range audio with amazing tonal balance and precise bass response. Its eight-channel S-Master HX Digital Amplifier technology was uniquely developed for High-Resolution audio in order to reduce distortion and noise at wider frequency ranges, while reproducing high frequency sound in detail. Together with Clear Audio+, a unique technology that leverages Sony’s expertise in digital signal processing developed over generations of perfecting sound, it delivers a rich, high-quality listening experience.

Equally attractive in its modern design but more compact than the SRS-X9, the SRS-X7 wireless speaker is also a premium 2.1 channel system with WiFi and Bluetooth. The SRS-X7 wireless speaker shares many of the audio features of its larger sibling including DSEE – Digital sound enhancement, ClearAudio+, an S-Master Digital Amplifier, and built-in NFC technology. Its built-in rechargeable battery offers up to 6 hours of play time.

The SRS-X9 and SRS-X7 speakers include SongPal app functionality, allowing easy and intuitive control of compatible Sony audio devices. Simply install the app on a mobile phone and take control of music playback, including device settings and more – all through one app.

As with the other wireless speaker models, the SRS-X5 wireless speaker includes DSEE, ClearAudio+ and S-Master Digital Amplifier technology, NFC tap-to-play, and aptX codec support. In addition, the SRS-X5 features a built in hands-free speaker phone. The SRS-X5 wireless speaker offers up to eight hours of continuous playback.
