Trinnov, Krix and Sony to Showcase 35-Channel Home Theater System at ISE 2023

Trinnov will be demonstrating a massive 13.16.6 channel home theater speaker system at ISE in Barcelona from January 31 to February 3, 2023.

ISE 2023 Barcelona is rapidly approaching and there are some state-of-the-art home theater demonstrations planned for the show; none have piqued our interest more than the 35-channel setup that Trinnov Audio, Krix, and Sony have planned.

ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) 2023 is being held from January 31st through February 3rd and could this system be even more impressive than the spectacle that Trinnov Audio, McIntosh, Sonus faber, and others put on at CEDIA 2022?

The Purpose of the ISE Demo

From Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov co-founder, and CEO: “In 2023, we officially celebrate our 20th anniversary as a company. It has been an incredible journey so far and we are proud to celebrate this with style, by unveiling yet another groundbreaking technology. This is a major milestone in our development, and it will further reinforce our singularity and leadership for years to come...”

Trinnov Audio will be demonstrating what it considers its new groundbreaking acoustic processing technology (digital sound field control system).

Building on the foundation of its well-received, 15-year-old Optimizer digital room correction technology, Trinnov is adding a new algorithm that uses subwoofer arrays and sophisticated processing to control the acoustics of the room (aka Active Acoustics).

The Demo System

To best illustrate this advancement, Trinnov and their show partners will be employing a high-end 13.16.6 channel home cinema system.

Tip: The numbers 13.16.6 represent the audio channel assignments. 13 channels are assigned to front and surround speakers, 16 channels are assigned for the subwoofers, and 6 channels are assigned for height/overhead channels. When you add it all up, that is 35 channels.

The Room

To deliver the best possible performance, Trinnov is teaming up with a few key partners, starting with long-time and trusted partner Officina Acustica.

Maurizio Conti & Peter Aylett of Officina Acustica has engineered an acoustically accurate room (despite the challenges of placing it on an exhibit hall floor).

The demonstration room features 18 seats distributed across three rows.

For source switching, AV processing, system calibration and control support, Trinnov is turning to its Altitude 32 and Altitude 48EXT AV Preamp/Processors.

Tip: The Altitude 32 incorporates up to 32 channels of audio processing, while the 48EXT extends the capability of the Altitude 32 up to 48 channels if needed.

The Amplifiers

The demo system is being driven by four Amplitude 16 power amplifiers. The surround and overhead speakers are powered by single-ended channel connections. The screen channels and subwoofers are all bridged.

The Speakers and Subwoofers

All loudspeakers and subwoofers are provided by the Australian manufacturer Krix.

The screen channels are Krix’s MX-40 LCR modules. These 3-way, bi-amped speakers feature Krix’s patented horn design, providing a uniform, constant directivity pattern, improved frequency response, and extremely low distortion.

Three modules will be used.

For surround and height channels, the demo will use 14 Krix Hyperphonix 45s speakers.

The Double Bass Array consists of sixteen Cyclonix 18” subwoofers – eight at the front of the room and eight at the back.

Tip: Surround and overhead speakers are all powered with single-ended channels, while screen channels and subwoofers are all bridged.

The Projector

For the video, Sony is providing its flagship VPL-GTZ380 4K laser projector. This projector incorporates 3 native SXRD 4K panels and can reproduce the full DCI-P3 color space without brightness loss. The projector outputs 10,000 lumens via a dual laser light source combining blue and red lasers. The 5.8 meters wide projection screen is being supplied by Screen Research.

Tip: Additional supporting components are provided by Kordz, MadVR, Surgex, and Zappit.

Availability For Consumers

Sometime after ISE, Trinnov is planning to gradually roll out its new digital sound field control system technology for specific projects over the next few months before offering the finalized software as a complimentary upgrade to Trinnov’s Altitude16 and Altitude32 AV  preamp/processor owners.
