Acoustic Sounds and Analogue Productions are Celebrating 75 Years of Atlantic Records With 75 Iconic Reissues

Acoustic Sounds’ new “75 for 75” series features 75 iconic Atlantic Records recordings reissued on 180 gram audiophile vinyl at 45 RPM. The experience does not come cheap.

Would you be willing to pay $60 for a 45 RPM 180-gram iconic reissue? How about $4,560 USD for the entire series?

Audiophiles love to kvetch and moan about the price of audiophile pressings but there are no shortage of buyers and this new collection from Chad Kassem and Acoustic Sounds is likely to be rather popular.

Having gone through the list already, there are at least 10 titles that created enough interest to bite but don’t expect to get any of the pressings numbered between 1 and 500 unless you are willing to commit to the entire 75 albums.

About The “75 for 75” Series

Starting later this year, Analogue Productions and Acoustic Sounds will release two Atlantic LP titles per month. This grand series will span over three years, summing up to 75 iconic records.

While each double LP title will retail for $60, there will be a special edition comprising four LPs for $120. The series includes timeless artists like Genesis, Ray Charles, Stone Temple Pilots, Otis Redding, Foreigner, Crosby Stills & Nash, and many more.

You have an opportunity to reserve the same numbered-edition, Quality Record Pressings copy of each title.

The first 2,000 pressings of each title will be numbered editions and pressed at Quality Record Pressings. Beyond the first 2,000 pressings of each title, non-numbered copies will be available and will be pressed at either Quality Record Pressings or RTI.

If there are any limited-numbered pressings that are not reserved, these will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, if you purchase one of these copies, you will not be guaranteed the same serial number on a different title. Series subscribers within the continental United States will enjoy free shipping. All other customers will be charged shipping when each record ships.

Analogue Productions listed the albums included in its Atlantic 75 project at acoustic sounds. The reissue campaign isn’t worth the buzz. The list does not include Led Z or Aretha. Those are two of the iconic recording artists in Atlantic history. Instead Chad offers several albums from Led imitation Bad Company. In lieu of all of those, the company could just release the band’s 10 from 6 greatest hits as part of the series. Same with the Foreigner best-of “Records” compilation instead of the several Foreigner releases in the series. This strategy will cost customers who want just the hits to spend hundreds more than necessary to get them. No Led but plenty of BC and Foreigner is the worst of both worlds.
Chad and his company did the same with their Doors series. They released all the Doors albums(with Mr. Mojo) but not the band’s best-of set, which again made a hard decision for customers on a budget.

      Josh,

I agree and the prices are ridiculous.
