ZVOX Audio Unveils Its Unique One-Box Surround Loudspeaker System in Silver

New Version of Critically Acclaimed Design Ideal for LCD TVs

Swampscott, Massachusetts, October 28, 2004–Seductively small, attractively affordable, engagingly simple and unintimidating, the ZVOX 315 one-box surround speaker system has caught the ears and eyes of the buying public and audio experts across the nation. ZVOX now announces the availability of the model 315 in a new silver finish selected to complement the increasingly popular LCD flat-screen televisions. ZVOX’s unique 315, arguably the most acclaimed new audio system of 2004, has delighted customers and critics alike with its combination of small size (just 17″ wide), modest price (under $200), intuitive ease of use, and unexpectedly high-performance sound.

“While many of us accept surround-sound systems with six or seven large speakers for our main ‘home theater’ TV, very few want all those boxes connected to a bedroom TV,” says ZVOX co-founder and president Tom Hannaher. “The ZVOX 315 Silver is the ideal sound system for those second and third TVs in a household; in dens, bedrooms, kids’ rooms, and offices.” Hannaher continues, “It integrates so elegantly with LCD sets, it looks a great deal like the TV’s own base, but it’s sound is from another plane altogether.”

The new ZVOX 315 Silver is acoustically identical to the original model. It features three full-range speakers plus an active 5.25″ subwoofer and built-in amplification, along with ZVOX’s exclusive PhaseCue and Infinite Compliance enabling technologies. The result: A super-compact package that sounds astonishingly comparable to much larger systems that incorporate speakers spaced 10 to 12 feet apart, thanks to ZVOX’s proprietary PhaseCue, which enhances separation and creates unexpectedly lifelike “virtual surround sound” with typical movie soundtracks. Meanwhile, the 315’s built-in powered subwoofer delivers impressively big, realistic bass for music and movie soundtracks alike.

The ZVOX 315 audio system connects via a single cable to a TV, DVD player, CD player, iPOD or other MP3 player, satellite radio, clock radio, PC or gaming console–anything with audio outputs or a headphone jack. There’s no complicated setup to perform or additional remote control to learn; just balanced, accurate, room-filling sound to enjoy.

Thousands of listeners have been astounded to discover that something so small, simple and affordable can sound so good. The ZVOX 315 Silver is now available from a select group of specialty audio dealers, as well as direct from ZVOX’s web site at www.zvoxaudio.com or toll-free number, 1-866-FOR-ZVOX (1-866-367-9869).

About ZVOX Audio Founders

Headquartered in Swampscott, Massachusetts, ZVOX Audio is a collaboration of long-time consumer electronics industry veterans Tom Hannaher and Winslow Burhoe. Hannaher’s career began in 1971 at Best Buy (Sound of Music) where he was Dir. of Advertising. In 1976, he moved to Advent Corporation, the pioneering audio/video manufacturer, and, in the 1980s, he created advertising and marketing programs for Tweeter, Apple Computer, NAD, Kloss Video and Cambridge SoundWorks. In 1993, he was appointed Sr. V.P. Marketing at Cambridge SoundWorks, where he was responsible for product development.

Burhoe’s background includes the venerable speaker companies KLH, and Acoustic Research where he worked with Edgar Villchur. In 1969, he founded EPI Loudspeakers, one of the leading audio companies of the 1970s, where he invented the inverted-dome tweeter–a product concept still in wide use today. Other accomplishments include design work for Genesis, Nuance, Burhoe Acoustics and Direct Acoustics.
