PlateMate HTP-2 handles termination for 7.1 home theater systems while SaphIR 854P and 860P eliminate plasma interference for IR remote control

NEWMARKET, N.H., Sept. 7, 2005 — Russound today announced additions to its SaphIR infrared (IR) and PlateMate accessory lines that will help homeowners take advantage of the latest advances in multiroom audio-video and home theater systems.

The PlateMate HTP-2 lets users enjoy the 7.1 home theater systems that are quickly becoming popular among movie enthusiasts and provides a neat and aesthetically pleasing terminal point for all seven speakers and a powered subwoofer in a 7.1 channel home theater configuration. The HTP-2 not only gives homeowners the jacks for the seventh speaker (one more than the HTP-1) along with the two powered subwoofer jacks, but also has a redesigned, more simplified face plate. The HTP-2 will be available in September for $78 US Domestic MAP.

Russound also extended its SaphIR IR plasma-friendly product line by developing two more IR receiver products that filter out plasma display interference, which could affect remote control performance of multiroom audio and home theater systems. The SaphIR 854P is a compact tabletop receiver that readily accepts IR signal commands from a handheld IR remote control and relays the signals to the audio/video equipment for operation from another room. The SaphIR 860P is an unobtrusive IR receiver that can be placed anywhere to have remote IR control over the system’s audio/video components. These new SaphIR products will be available in October for $299 US Domestic MAP.
“These new products show that Russound cares about the details as well as the major industry trends that affect how homeowners enjoy their multiroom audio and video systems,” said Bill Soggu, product manager at Russound.
