Roku Updates Streaming Players and Software for 2017

Roku Streaming Stick 2017

New Roku Streaming Stick+ Bundles 4K HDR Steaming in Convenient HDMI Adapter

Roku just announced five new streaming players that offer better performance, improved wireless reception and new convenience features priced from $30 to $100.  A new operating system called Roku OS 8 will come with each new player and be available as an update for older streamers. Upgraded software will add a Smart Guide that shows over-the-air (OTA) broadcast TV and streaming options, easier search and voice control and single sign-on to eliminate having to enter login credentials multiple times.

Roku Express and Express+ are 5X More Powerful
The second-generation Roku Express ($30) and Roku Express+ ($4o) are five times more powerful than their predecessors. Both are entry-level models to get your feet wet streaming. The Roku Express+ is ideal for classic TVs because it connects to older standard definition TVs via traditional RCA jacks (red/yellow/white jacks) along with an HDMI too.

Roku Streaming Stick – adds Voice Remote with TV Power and Volume Controls
The $50 Roku Streaming Stick offers HD streaming with faster speeds thanks to a quad-core processor and 802.11 AC dual-band MIMO wireless. Now it comes with a voice remote that includes TV power and volume buttons that can control compatible TV models and the Roku Streaming Stick together.

Roku Streaming Stick+ – 4X Wireless Range Plus Brilliant HD, 4K and HDR Picture Quality
The $70 Roku Streaming Stick+ improves wireless performance by putting the receiver into the power cord. This brand new model offers up to four times the wireless range than the 2016 Roku Streaming Stick to minimize buffering. It combines HD, 4K and 4K HDR up to 60 frames per second (fps) streaming.

Roku Ultra – Price Dropped
The top-of-the-line $100 Roku Ultra does everything as the others and features an ethernet port for wired connectivity and a micro SD slot to help speed up streaming channel load times. Its new remote allows quick power up and volume changes, while also accepting voice commands. There’s also a headphone jack for private listening and a remote finder button that helps locate lost remotes.

Price and Availability
Roku’s new streaming players will be available October  8, 2017.  Pre-orders are now being accepted:
