PMC (Professional Monitor Company) has crossed the Channel and stormed the halls of High End Munich 2025, armed with their latest sonic weapon: the prophecy loudspeaker line. First unveiled in February, these British-engineered marvels are making their trade show debut in front of the toughest crowd in hi-fi. With a name like prophecy, you’d expect divine revelations — or at the very least, speakers that can peel the varnish off your musical expectations without breaking a sweat.
The prophecy speaker line consists of five models:
- prophecy1: Bookshelf/Standmount speaker
- prophecy5: Floorstanding Speaker
- prophecy7: Floorstanding Speaker
- prophecy9: Floorstanding Speaker
- prophecyC: Center Channel Speaker
Note: As of this time, there are no prophecy 2, 3, 4, or 8 model designations.
The Prophecy speakers feature advanced technologies and a refreshed aesthetic that PMC believes represents the future of sound. Oliver Thomas and Elliott Whyte, the lead engineer behind the Prophecy series, will offer in-depth presentations on the technologies driving the Prophecy speakers at scheduled intervals throughout the show.
ATL & LaminairX
The Prophecy line features a significant upgrade to PMC’s Laminair technology, working in conjunction with the Advanced Transmission Line (ATL). The patent-pending* LaminairX has been completely redesigned, unlocking the full potential of the ATL by reducing turbulence, which in turn lowers resistance and harmonic distortion by up to 3 dB. The result is clearer bass with improved timing and dynamic range, free from air noise. Additionally, the newly developed aerodynamic vent is integrated into the heavy extruded aluminum base of the cabinet, which also helps ground the speaker for enhanced control.
The unique holistic design approach takes into account every element — from the drive units and crossover components to the ATL, LaminairX vent, waveguides, and cabinet — all working in harmony to eliminate anything that detracts from the ideal musical experience. Each component has been designed to function together, with all parts being entirely interdependent.
Woofer
The long-throw bass drive units, developed specifically for the Prophecy line, are perfectly matched to the ATL. Their exceptionally linear design delivers deep bass frequencies without coloring the midrange, thanks to the combined effects of LaminairX and the ATL. The ultra-light, mica-filled cone material offers the ideal balance of rigidity, damping, and weight, allowing it to respond quickly to both the most powerful and the most subtle audio signals.
Tweeter
The tweeter used in the Prophecy line is the same one found in professional nearfield and midfield studio monitors. This 27mm soft dome, featuring Ferrofluid cooling, is equipped with a specially designed dispersion grille that ensures ultra-controlled directivity, extending up to 180 degrees.
3-Way Models
The three-way models (prophecy7 and prophecy9) feature a 55mm soft dome midrange, also used in professional studio monitors and the Ci series — the industry standard for Dolby Atmos Music mixing and a favorite in high-end home cinema installations. Its distinctive ‘n-compass™’ sculptured profile surrounds both the high-frequency and midrange drivers, improving their response and integration, ensuring they work as a unified system with an ultra-wide and stable soundstage.
The drive units are connected via PMC’s well-known high-order, steep roll-off crossover design. Its military-grade circuit board with ultra-thick copper tracks and gold through plating supports non-inhibited current flow and greater reliability. Careful component selection, precision matching, and optimised positioning provide low component interaction and low coloration. The steep filter slopes ensure that each drive unit works within its optimum range and presents a superb off-axis response for a wide listening window.
PMC Manufacturing Approach
The Prophecy series also introduces a new manufacturing approach for PMC, focusing on greater sustainability. The cabinet finishes highlight the natural tactile qualities of Walnut, Mediterranean Oak, and Black, using minimally invasive techniques. This not only enhances the speakers’ aesthetic but also aligns with modern interior design trends. The veneers are sourced from sustainable suppliers.
The grilles are secured with concealed magnets, and the open-weave, textured fabric complements the overall Prophecy aesthetic.

The Prophecy speaker setup at High End Munich 2025 is powered by the PMC cor integrated amplifier. Featuring an analog design, the cor adds no sonic character of its own, allowing the music to speak for itself. Following the same design principles that guide the creation of PMC loudspeakers—musicality, transparency, and neutrality—it ensures that nothing is added or taken away from the listening experience.
Visually, the cor embraces a minimalist industrial design, inspired by the work of Dieter Rams and a nod to Raymond Loewy, the “father of streamlining.” Crafted from extruded aluminum and available in a subtle black or silver finish, its understated appearance perfectly complements the pure, uncolored sound it delivers.

The Bottom Line
PMC prophecy loudspeakers offer a step up from the Twenty5i series launched in 2020. Although both can be used for hi-fi or home theater, the prophecy series brings even greater musicality, transparency and lifelike dynamics.
