Pioneer SP-BS22A-LR & SP-T22A-LR Dolby Atmos Speakers

Pioneer SP-T22A Add-on Dolby Atmos Speakers Stacked

Pioneer today announced new Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers designed by renowned speaker engineer, Andrew Jones. The 2015 models include the SP-BS22A-LR ($300/pr) compact speakers and SP-T22A-LR ($200/pr) add-on speakers, which are ideal companions for the recently introduced Pioneer VSX-1130 receiver enabled with Dolby Atmos technology.  The SP-BS22A-LR closely follows the physical footprint of the SP-BS22-LR compact speakers, but now adds a top firing concentric driver which includes 4-inch woofer and 1/2-inch tweeter for the additional height information.  The SP-T22A-LR add-on speaker is an enclosed top firing concentric driver which includes 4-inch woofer and 1/2-inch tweeter intended to be paired with Pioneer’s award-winning SP-BS22-LR compact speakers and the SP-FS52 floor standing speakers as well as the previous generation SP-BS21-LR and SP-FS51 models to deliver Dolby Atmos sound anywhere in the room, including overhead.

Pioneer SP-BS22A Dolby Atmos Speakers

Compact Speakers Performance
The new SP-BS22A-LR compact speakers are designed for both sound quality and delivery of Dolby Atmos content.  The front 4-inch structured surface woofer (SSW) provides both enhanced cone strength for better bass dynamics while also smoothing the response for more accurate midrange presentation.  Above the woofer is a high efficiency 1-inch soft dome tweeter systematically placed in a custom-designed wave guide to control sound direction, optimizing on- and off-axis response to produce a more consistent sound throughout the listening space.  The woofer and tweeter combination are carefully matched with a sophisticated six element crossover network to produce more precise frequency division to establish natural sounding output with a combined max power handling of 80 Watts.

The top of the cabinet is slanted at 10 degrees and houses a top firing concentric driver which includes 4-inch woofer and 1/2-inch tweeter utilizing a two element crossover network designed specifically for Dolby Atmos.  This driver provides a wide frequency response essential for delivering compelling height information.

Distinguished Look
Closely following the footprint of the previous model, the new SP-BS22A-LR maintains exceptional build quality through the use of the same RF molded laminated MDF cabinet construction technique.  The enclosure reduces vibration and ringing, adding to improved sound reproduction.  The front speakers are protected by a detachable grill.

Dolby Atmos-Enabled Speaker Modules
Designed to sit directly on top of Pioneer’s current line of award winning compact and floor-standing speakers, the new SP-T22A add-on speaker modules use the same RF-molded, laminated MDF cabinet. The SP-T22A’s can also be used with most flat surfaced speakers, along with a Dolby Atmos enabled AV Receiver to transform your standard home theater into a Dolby Atmos enabled system.

The SP-T22A features a top firing concentric driver mounted at a 10 degrees slant, and a two element crossover network.  In addition, the SP-T22A-LR features gold 5-way binding posts and can handle max power up to 80 Watts.  The Pioneer SP-T22A-LR add-on speakers are an ideal way to upgrade consumers with the Dolby Atmos experience.
