Onkyo is marking its 80th anniversary in 2026 with a broader push beyond the AVR category that helped define the brand for decades. At High End Vienna 2026, the company is highlighting its expanding two-channel and lifestyle audio lineup, including 80th Anniversary Edition models from the MUSE Series streaming amplifier range and CREATOR Series powered monitor family.
The products were first previewed at CES 2026, but their appearance in Vienna gives Onkyo another opportunity to show how it is repositioning itself for modern listeners. The new lineup combines streaming support, updated connectivity, compact industrial design, and Onkyo’s long-running amplifier heritage without pretending the AVR business never happened.
That history is still part of the story; the difference is that Onkyo is now trying to make a stronger case in desktop, powered speaker, and streaming audio systems as well.
Onkyo MUSE Y-50 Network Integrated Amplifier

The centerpiece of Onkyo’s 80th Anniversary presentation at High End Vienna 2026 is the $1,699 USD limited-edition MUSE Series Network Streamer and Integrated Amplifier. Its exterior design nods to the classic Onkyo M-588 power amplifier, with a champagne-gold aluminum chassis, Bordeaux walnut side panels, and a ventilated top plate with a Japanese-inspired pattern.
A 5.46-inch color LCD adds the modern layer, displaying playback information, settings, and analog-style VU meters. System control is handled through the Onkyo Controller app.
The MUSE Y-50 combines network streaming, integrated amplification, and broad system connectivity in one chassis. Onkyo specifies 250 watts of Class D power into 4-ohm loudspeakers, using an Axign amplifier design with MOSFET output devices. That gives the Y-50 enough flexibility for both bookshelf speakers and more demanding floorstanding models, depending on room size and speaker sensitivity.

Connectivity includes analog RCA, coaxial digital, HDMI, HDMI ARC, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, MM/MC phono inputs, and support for Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Qplay. That makes the Y-50 less of a retro tribute and more of a modern streaming amplifier dressed in anniversary clothing.
Onkyo has also developed room calibration specifically for the MUSE Series, allowing the Y-50 to adjust its performance for different rooms and speaker placements. Final sound quality will still depend on the loudspeakers, setup, and room, but the feature gives Onkyo a useful answer for listeners who want a simpler path to better two-channel performance without turning their living room into a measurement lab.
Onkyo CREATOR Series

Onkyo’s 80th Anniversary Edition CREATOR Series GX-30ARC and GX-10DB powered speakers are also part of the company’s High End Vienna 2026 presentation. Both models draw visual inspiration from the Onkyo D-200 Liverpool loudspeakers introduced in 1987, translating those vintage design cues into compact powered speakers built for desktops, small rooms, TV setups, and turntable systems.
The anniversary versions feature Bordeaux walnut-style finishes, PVC walnut cabinets, silver trim rings, and textured black baffles. The result is a familiar Onkyo look in a smaller, more modern package. These are not large passive loudspeakers trying to relive the 1980s. They are powered monitors designed for listeners who want better sound from a compact system without adding a rack of components.
The $299 GX-10DB and $399 GX-30ARC use Class D amplification, DSP, and internal bi-amplification, with separate power for the tweeter and woofer. That architecture gives Onkyo more control over driver behavior, crossover behavior, and low-frequency output than a conventional passive desktop speaker system. Final performance will depend on placement and room conditions, but the platform is clearly aimed at nearfield listening, compact hi-fi systems, gaming, work-from-home setups, and secondary listening spaces.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, optical, RCA/phono, AUX, and a subwoofer pre-out. The larger GX-30ARC also adds HDMI ARC, making it the more TV-friendly option in the lineup. That gives the CREATOR Series a broader use case than a basic desktop speaker pair, especially for users who want one compact system for music, video, and everyday listening.
Onkyo also includes angled speaker stands made from ABS resin with a grain-textured finish. The stands are designed to tilt the speakers toward the listener and improve desktop positioning while reducing unwanted vibration. They also help reinforce the CREATOR Series’ main pitch: compact powered speakers with retro Onkyo cues, modern connectivity, and fewer boxes cluttering the desk.
“We are honored to introduce Onkyo’s Anniversary Edition products—models that celebrate the timeless industrial designs and emotional connection that helped define generations of Hi-Fi enthusiasts, while boldly reimagining them for today’s modern listener,” said Vinny Bonacorsi, Chief Operating Officer of Onkyo. “These products represent more than a celebration of our past; they signal the beginning of an exciting new era for the Onkyo brand.”
The Bottom Line
Onkyo’s High End Vienna 2026 presentation is less about one anniversary product and more about showing where the brand is headed after 80 years. The MUSE Y-50 is the key piece because it gives Onkyo a real entry in the network integrated amplifier category, with streaming, HDMI ARC, phono support, room calibration, and enough Class D power to anchor a modern two-channel system.
The CREATOR Series anniversary speakers make a different case. They are compact, powered, desktop-friendly systems aimed at listeners who want better sound for music, gaming, TV, workspaces, or a small turntable setup without building a traditional hi-fi rack. The D-200 Liverpool design reference gives them some Onkyo heritage, but the appeal is really about size, connectivity, and simplicity.
The bigger story is that Onkyo is trying to move beyond being remembered mainly for AVRs. Between MUSE, CREATOR, ICON, and its growing relationship with Klipsch, the brand is clearly trying to rebuild its identity around modern hi-fi, lifestyle audio, and connected listening.
