Preview: Monoprice Monolith Dual Driver THX Ultra M-210 and M-212 Subwoofers

Does your movie watching experience suffer from a lack of low end impact? The Monoprice Monolith Dual Driver Subwoofers might change all that.

Monoprice Monolith M-210 and M-212 THX Subwoofers

Following its five recently released THX Certified Subwoofers, Monoprice has announced the addition of two more models, the M-210 and M-212. What makes these subwoofers different is that instead of one driver, each sub packs in two drivers. This provides home theater fans with powerful bass without taking up a lot of floor space as the two drivers are stacked within the enclosure.

The new Monoprice Monolith dual driver subwoofers are offered in 10-inch and 12-inch sizes. Let’s take a look at what they offer (in addition to the dual drivers).

What Both Subwoofers Have in Common

THX Ultra Certification: This means that these subwoofers have been submitted and passed THX standards for application and performance.  The M-210 and M212 have both been certified THX Ultra which means they are optimized for use in rooms of up to 3,000 cubic feet in volume.

THX Certification Process

Lots of Power Output: 1,000-watt (RMS)/1,800-watt (Peak) using a Claridy DSP1000 Class D amplifier with DSP (Digital Signal Processing)

Driver Design: Each subwoofer has two recently developed high-excursion drivers capable of handling the above-mentioned power output without distortion.

Flexible Port Design: The port on each subwoofer can be used in an open or sealed setup.
