Integra Ramps Up HD Features on DTR-5.9 Custom Installation Focused A/V Receiver

Integra, the first company to produce audio-video receivers specifically designed for custom installers and systems integrators, has expanded connectivity and HD audio and video features on its mid-priced DTR-5.9 A/V receiver. The new model features the same HDMI 1.3a repeaters and high resolution audio processing as the best-selling DTR-5.8 that it replaces, and adds two additional HDMI inputs for a total of four, 1080i upscaling of standard definition sources over HDMI, and Audyssey’s new Dynamic EQ loudness compensation technology.

“The DTR-5.8 was one of the first products available to custom installers that delivered on the full promise of HDMI v1.3a,” comments Integra Director of Sales, Keith Haas. “The DTR-5.9 ups the ante with the ability to handle more HDMI sources, improved video scaling capabilities, and improved performance at moderate listening levels thanks to Audyssey Dynamic EQ technology. Like all Integra products, it features a class-leading set of integration and control features designed specifically for custom installation, making it easier for dealers and installers to cut job time, reduce customer call-back issues, and improve their bottom line.”

The DTR-5.9 features HDMI v.1.3a inputs for up to four high definition a/v sources, including 1080p digital video signals and Deep Color (36 bit) information. It features internal decoding for DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Digital Plus lossless and high resolution audio formats, all over a single HDMI connection. Standard definition analog sources are all seamlessly scaled up to 1080i via Faroudja DCDi Edge Technology, which also effectively eliminates unwanted video artifacts.

Integra’s DTR-5.9 includes the highly acclaimed Audyssey 2EQ room correction and calibration system, greatly improving and speeding up setup and optimization of the loudspeaker system in any environment. It is among the first products to employ Audyssey’s Dynamic EQ algorithm, which refines the receiver’s frequency response and surround levels moment-by-moment to compensate for deteriorations in the listening experience at different volume levels. When used in combination with the Audyssey 2EQ system, this feature tailors the receiver’s output to correct for room acoustics, listening position, and playback-level distortions, delivering an overall experience that is a much closer match to what the audio production engineers originally intended.

The DTR-5.9 has a seven-channel amplifier section rated at 90 Watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 110 Watts into 6 ohms. With Integra’s High-Current Power Supply, Wide-Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT), and discrete power output devices, it is easily capable of delivering high power output with low noise, and smooth response from 5 Hz to 100 kHz. The unit is Sirius Satellite Radio ready, and includes a high-quality terrestrial radio tuner. A total of 40 radio presets can be used for AM, FM, or Sirius stations.

The DTR-5.9 includes a wide range of features specifically tailored to the needs of custom installers, including bi-directional RS-232 and Ethernet ports for third party control systems, three programmable 12-volt triggers, dual IR inputs, and three unique assignable IR code sets. It has extensive multizone / multisource features, including Zone 2 fixed and variable line outputs with independent Bass/Treble and balance controls. The company’s exclusive Powered Zone2 capability allows two of the unit’s seven main amplifiers to be used for Zone 2 amplification while still enjoying 5.1-channel surround sound in the main zone. Additionally, these amplifier channels can be reconfigured for bi-amplification of the front left and right audio channels when used with compatible high-end speakers.

For the majority of dealers, who also install these receivers in the customer’s home, the DTR-5.9 includes the ability to independently store custom settings, reducing setup and support times. An optional rack mount kit is available for applications where rack mounting is desirable.

The Integra DTR-5.9 is currently available at a suggested retail price of $800.

Integra designs and manufactures premium Home Theater receivers, processors, amplifiers, and DVD players that are specifically designed to meet the needs of custom audio/video systems installers. Systems integration and convergence technology protocols include RS-232, IR and on-board Ethernet for network connectivity and TCP/IP control. Integra has access to vast technical resources, and bears a proud heritage of 60 years of audio engineering excellence.
