The Unmatched Performance of KEF’s Legendary Reference Series on Display at the 2006 Home Entertainment Show

MARLBORO, NJ — May 16, 2006— With a long tradition of excellence in audio design and engineering, British speaker manufacturer, KEF, will showcase the brilliance of its Reference Series during the 2006 Home Entertainment Show being held at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Los Angeles, California from June 1-4, 2006. The Santa Maria Room will host in-depth product demonstrations and provide an opportunity for attendees to meet with KEF representatives and applaud the ingenuity of this high-end speaker line.

The KEF flagship Reference Series possesses a unique adaptability that provides for the most accurate sound reproduction available. As each new Reference model is developed, KEF engineers work to incorporate the latest, most sophisticated technologies. These then become the ‘Reference’ to which every single production version must conform to.

“The KEF Reference Series is a quantum leap forward in audiophile quality sound,” said Richard Colburn, KEF’s Reference Business Development Manager. “We’re very excited to demonstrate our flagship product line at the Home Entertainment Show, and get attendees excited about the superb capabilities of this performance-driven series.”

The Reference Series models come with a state-of-the-art 19mm titanium dome Hypertweeter for massively extended HF performance. Mounted in low diffraction, chrome-plated steel enclosures time aligned with the main array, speakers deliver a flat response to 50 kHz for a more natural sound delivery. KEF’s proprietary UNI-Q configuration ensures a spacious and highly defined soundstage over a very wide listening area, with exceptional off-axis response. Bass extension is equally stunning, thanks to ultra-low distortion motor systems and high tech reinforced diaphragms.

As you would expect from a handmade KEF product, build quality is outstanding. Engineered from laminated birch ply using KEF’s own internal bracing system, the elegant cabinets come in a choice of hand-matched hardwood veneers. An oxygen-free copper cable promises the best possible signal transmission, with terminals machined from solid brass and plated in gold. High order crossovers with advanced air-cored inductors and polypropylene capacitors guarantee faultlessly smooth integration.

All models accommodate tri-wiring and are fitted with a boundary control device to adjust bass response according to speaker positioning and the acoustics of the listening area.

As a true testament to the flawless performance of the KEF Reference Series, Trutone Inc., a mastering studio in the heart of New York City chose the KEF speakers as its reference. When the company relocated its New Jersey Mastering Division to Midtown Manhattan, several speaker systems were evaluated but none compared to the Reference Series’ superior level of acoustical and musical reproduction. The historic Trutone site is where the former Record Plant Studios resided; the place where industry legends such as John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, and Bruce Springsteen (to name a few) made music history.

Trutone Inc’s co-principal and chief engineer, Carl Rowatti, stated: “We rely heavily on the KEF Reference speakers to be an unfailing authority in our mastering process. As audio enhancement specialists our job is to make a good master great and make music sound its best, no matter what the genre–from classic analogue to pristine digital, we’re equipped to enhance and refine. And our Reference speakers help us achieve that goal.”
