ELAN Home Systems Gets Connected with Lutron Electronics through New 2-Way Control

ELAN Debuts 2-Way Integration with the Lutron RadioRA Lighting Control System and New Security Drivers at TRIO 2007

LEXINGTON, KY — ELAN Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, announced today that the company will debut its new two-way lighting control interface for Lutron Electronics’ RadioRA system via the Chronos system bridge and timeclock at its eagerly anticipated TRIO 2007 Dealer Summit this month and ship shortly after the event. The announcement was made today by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer.

The new two-way serial driver will reside in ELAN’s SS1 and allow VIA! Touch panels to control Lutron’s RadioRA-controlled products and provide immediate feedback regarding any or all of the unit’s possible 17 scenes throughout the home. Playing off the RadioRA platform, the latest interface allows homeowners full feedback on lighting loads from every ELAN panel in the home. Prior to this, ELAN’s SS1 has had interface capabilities with Lutron’s RadioRA system via 1-way control.

This new serial interface is a pre-written driver and is ultra-fast for Dealers to install using ELAN’s VIA!Tools software. They simply select the driver in ELAN’s setup software, name the rooms or scenes, and it’s essentially ready to go. This saves Dealer’s time and money on site, while providing them the ability to please every client who desires lighting control.

“While music and lighting control systems for the home were once considered luxuries exclusively available to the rich and famous, the new ELAN and Lutron RadioRA system interface collaboration delivers the most cost effective, easy-to-use option for lighting control,” stated Mr. Farinelli. “There’s nothing like seeing which lights are on all over the house from a single touch station. It makes getting the lights right, simple and enjoyable.”

“Dealers have been successfully interfacing RadioRA with ELAN’s VIA! Touch Panels for years, and appreciate the support they get from Lutron and ELAN. The introduction of this new driver is groundbreaking for them in that it gives users the ability to know the status of their controlled lighting, from a touchpanel, from anywhere in the home, at an affordable price point,” stated Jeff Zemanek, Lutron’s Director of Residential Systems Providers. “We have worked closely with ELAN and are pleased to join ELAN in giving their top Dealers the first look at TRIO 2007.”

An intelligent, multi-faceted controller, ELAN’s SS1 System Station is the “brains” behind the user-friendly control afforded by ELAN’s popular touch panels and keypads. RadioRA supports 17 whole-home scenes (15 rooms/scenes plus “ALL ON” and “ALL OFF”), which can be accessed via any button on a master control or via an RS-232 connection and provides a powerful, built-in astronomical timeclock with 13 additional whole-home scenes that can be activated by up to 100 programmable events.

ELAN’s 2-way serial driver for RadioRA is targeted to be available to Dealers within 45 days of TRIO, along with several other new security system 2-way drivers.

At TRIO, ELAN will also debut these drivers, with display of three other eagerly awaited 2-way RS-232 controls for VIA! Integration Partner security products including the GE NetworX NX-8, the Ademco/Honeywell VISTA Series, and the DSC Power Series. Like the new Lutron driver, these are also pre-written serial drivers and can easily and effortlessly be installed by Dealers with ELAN’s VIA!Tools software, increasing Dealer’s productivity and profits.

The TRIO 2007 Dealer Summit is an exclusive event that will bring together more than 375 of ELAN’s top Dealers, VIA! Integration Partners, Sales Reps and Members of the Media at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, Kentucky, May 17-19. TRIO is an electric event where attending Dealers will benefit from a wide variety of programs that offer an incredible amount of valuable information that is pertinent to their businesses and from exposure to new solutions and best practices. The event is geared towards Business Owners, Salespeople, and Installation Managers, all of whom can expect to experience and enjoy an electrifying, action packed program over the span of just couple of days.
