Toshiba Announces Elegant and Mobile Version of Popular Qosmio AV Notebook Computer; New Qosmio F45-AV412 Enhances Digital Experience with Adoption of HD DVD-ROM and Dolby Surround Sound for Less Than $2000

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the Qosmio F45-AV412 audio-video notebook computer — a 15.4-inch notebook computer with an HD DVD-ROM drive and cutting-edge Dolby surround sound technology for the ultimate in visual and audio entertainment.

The Qosmio F45-AV412 is an impressive machine right out of the box with its striking piano-key white glossy finish, which is starkly contrasted by a silver volume control knob and Qosmio AV Controller. This smaller version of the Qosmio series was designed to give more consumers the opportunity to enjoy the premium quality that the Qosmio brand reflects at a starting price of $1,649.

The notebook is built around a stunning 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite display and an integrated HD DVD-ROM drive to allow users the chance to watch high definition content on their notebook’s display. Users can also connect the Qosmio’s HDMI port to a High Definition TV to expand the functionality of their home entertainment center. Once connected to an HDTV, the Qosmio F45 can deliver a 1080i movie with all of the quality users expect from HD DVD.

“As the newest member of Toshiba’s premier multimedia series, the Qosmio F45-AV412 is a remarkable machine in terms of putting high definition and multimedia capabilities into people’s hands,” said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “You really can’t understand what mobile entertainment has to offer until you have experienced the quality provided by the Qosmio F45.”

At its core, the Qosmio is aimed at providing a first-class multimedia experience at home, on the road or in a dorm room. By leveraging two Harman Kardon Bass Reflex stereo speakers, a built-in subwoofer and Dolby Home Theater™ technology this high-end speaker configuration dramatically enhances the visual experience by delivering a sophisticated suite of audio technologies, such as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Headphone and Dolby Virtual Speaker. As a result users have the freedom and flexibility to enjoy rich surround sound in a variety of playback environments as well as more vivid and engaging experiences from a user’s favorite music, movies and games.
