— HDTV Consumer Education Initiative Earns Best of Innovations Award; XM Satellite Radio, HDTVi Antenna and Satellite Accessory System Packaging Also Honored —

Commack, NY, January 8, 2004 — TERK Technologies Corp., a leader in antenna technology and signal management solutions, today announced that it has received four prestigious Innovations 2004 awards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). TERK’s educational HDTV Initiative received a Best of Innovations 2004 award, reaffirming the company’s position as a leader in HDTV technology. In addition, TERK’s XMicro XM Satellite Radio antenna and HDTVi indoor HDTV antenna were honored as industry-leading products, and the company’s packaging for its Satellite Accessory System received recognition.

“TERK has always been dedicated to educating customers so they can make informed purchases and have the most rewarding entertainment experiences, and we are thrilled to receive a Best Of Innovations 2004 award in recognition of our ongoing HDTV Initiative for consumer education,” said Jean-Jacques L’Henaff, Vice President of Corporate Design, TERK Technologies. “We are also gratified that the XMicro and HDTVi high-performance antennas have been recognized as innovative, standard-setting products, and that our Satellite Accessory System packaging has been acknowledged as successful in its design.”

Best of Innovations 2004 Award Winner–Retailing CE Accessories Category: TERK HDTV Initiative for Consumer Education

As the Best of Innovations 2004 award winner for the Retailing CE Accessories Category, TERK’s HDTV Initiative extends a helpful hand to customers where they need it most–in retail stores where they make their final purchasing decisions. Realizing the widespread demand for concise, clear information about HDTV, as well as HDTV antennas and their benefits, TERK launched the program in July 2003. By educating customers and retail sales people about HDTV technology, available HDTV programming and hardware, and the best ways to enjoy all the enhanced home entertainment enjoyment HDTV can provide, the HDTV Initiative’s innovative educational tools give consumers the ability to make informed decisions and retailers the materials they need to assure customer satisfaction.

The HDTV Initiative’s in-store POP (point-of-purchase) display is an integral component of the program. Placed on a store wall, or on a shelf, or countertop, the display, which can be tailored to meet the requirements of specific retailers, informs customers and sales people about the availability of free HDTV broadcasting, and helps them select the ideal off-air antenna. By taking the guesswork out of the buying process, the display increases the sales of HDTV antennas, and enables customers to get the best performance and the most content from their HDTV displays.

The HDTV Initiative’s additional key component is the TERK HDTV Outdoor Antenna program, featuring one-box antenna product solutions that include everything required for a successful antenna installation. From basic education to antenna selection to installation, the HDTV Initiative ensures TERK customers of the best-possible HDTV viewing experience.

Innovations 2004 Mobile Electronics Award Winner: TERK XMicro XM Satellite Radio Antenna

TERK’s XMicro is an ultra-compact XM Satellite Radio antenna that easily mounts magnetically to any vehicle. The latest addition to TERK’s industry-leading XM antenna line, the XMicro is the most compact XM Radio antenna available — less than a half-inch tall, with a sleek, aerodynamic design that hugs the roof of any vehicle.

To ensure best-quality reception at all times, XMicro utilizes a dual-mode, ultra-high-gain design, which captures signals from both XM Radio satellites and terrestrial repeaters to virtually assure continuous coverage. The XMicro is fully compatible with older dual-input XM Radio tuners with the use of the optional XM splitter (model XM-SP).

The TERK XMicro (SRP: $29.99) is currently shipping.

Innovations 2004 Packaging Award Winner: TERK Satellite Accessory System

TERK’s innovative Satellite Accessory System packaging is an Innovations 2004 Design and Engineering Showcase honoree in the Retail Resources category. To enhance consumer recognition and build visual presence at retail, the TERK Satellite Accessory System packaging has a totally integrated, cohesive look that is both eye-catching and conveys the products’ benefits with maximum impact.

Every detail of TERK’s Satellite Accessory System packaging has been refined to deliver top results at retail. The front clamshells have a satellite dish-like shape that visually reinforces the product category while accommodating marketing copy. The products are held at an angle, enabling them to be easily seen whether the clamshell is hung on either upper or lower peg hooks. Light can enter each clamshell to illuminate the packaging and further enhance product visibility. To help customers fully understand the products before purchasing, product features such as connectors can clearly be seen through the rear packaging panels.

To accommodate a wide array of retail environments, the TERK Satellite Accessory System packaging line is designed to be displayed either freestanding or hung on a peg hook. Each package has an integrated foot, allowing it to stand on a shelf or on an A/V component, for optimal retail placement.

Products that utilize the TERK Satellite Accessory system packaging include the Dual and Single Satellite Diplexers, 2, 3 and 4-Way Splitters, 5 x 8 and 3 x 4 Satellite Multiswitches, and Cable and Satellite Amplifiers. The TERK Satellite Accessory System product line is currently shipping to retailers nationwide.
