Las Vegas, Consumer Electronics Show–January 3, 2005–Syntax Groups Corporation(tm), manufacturer of the high-quality, cost-effective Olevia(tm) brand of widescreen HDTV-ready LCD TVs, today announced a strategic alliance to deliver advanced Super-IPS display technology to all Syntax Olevia large-size LCD TVs with innovative display panels from LG.Philips LCD, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of thin-film liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) technology. The addition of LG.Philips LCD’s Super-IPS (Super-In-Plane-Switching) technology into Syntax’s newest 32″ and 37″ Olevia LCD TVs and its future 42″, 47″ and 55″ models, gives consumers a premium viewing experience with the best display performance for LCD TVs, including high color saturation, wide viewing angles, crisp images, fast response times and the minimum amount of color shift and distortion when viewed from various angles.

“By partnering with LG.Philips LCD, we will reinforce and quickly extend the unique value proposition that Syntax brings to the digital living market,” said James Li, Chief Executive Officer of Syntax Groups. “Syntax is becoming recognized as the fastest growing brand of LCD TVs in North America since we have captured approximately 5 percent market share in less than one year, and becoming one of the top five vendors. We are excited about this alliance in that it affords us the opportunity to continue this fast-track growth while offering consumers the best technology available for LCD TVs at affordable prices.”

“We’re happy to see that consumers of Syntax’s Olevia LCD TVs will benefit from the technological innovation and manufacturing excellence we employ in producing our large and wide 32W and 37W TFT LCD TV panels
in our new, state-of-the-art, “P6″ facility , currently the world’s largest 6th Generation TFT LCD fab”, commented Bruce Berkoff, Executive Vice President of Marketing for LG.Philips LCD. “We believe that the entire HDTV industry will benefit from more consumers enjoying more high resolution flat TVs, and especially models like these which have the benefit of our high quality, high color fidelity, Super-IPS wide viewing angle technology”.

Syntax Groups is beginning to showcase the high-end benefits of LG.Philips LCD’s Super-IPS technology in its new Olevia 32-inch (LT32HV) and 37-inch (LT37HV) TVs, which feature up to 178 degree viewing for excellent picture quality from almost any angle, great 1200:1 high contrast ratio for bright ambient viewing, a high resolution of 1366 x 768 (WXGA), up to 8ms response times to display rapidly-moving images with smooth transitions and minimal ghosting effects, 800 cd/m2 high brightness, 16:9 cinema-style widescreen aspect ratio with automatic progressive scan, 3D comb filter and 3:2 pull down.

For convenient viewing from multiple sources, the Olevia 32-inch and 37-inch feature dual built-in NTSC TV tuners for displaying split screens and Picture-in-Picture (PIP) capability. Several video and audio inputs are included such as HDTV component inputs (YPbPr and YcbCr 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i), VGA, DVI HDCP, S-video, and RCA composite and audio. When connected to a PC using the VGA input, the Olevia LCD TVs function as high quality multimedia displays highlighting their ability to simultaneously watch TV or DVD movies on half of a split screen while surfing the Internet and accessing email or PC documents on the other half. The Olevia LCD TVs’ thin profiles of 4.6-inch (LT32HV) and 5.6-inch (LT37HV) make them easy to attach to a wall using an optional VESA-standard mounting kit.
