Significantly raising the safety factor for hundreds of millions of people around the world who take to the outdoors each year, Spot LLC has introduced the world’s first satellite-based personal messaging devices, the SPOT Personal Tracker™ and the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger™. The SPOT Messenger products allow users to notify friends, family or an international emergency response center with status messages and location coordinates based on their situation and need.

Incorporating both GPS and commercial satellite technology, SPOT provides users a variety of message options plus the ability to display geo-location updates in real-time to Google Maps™. Because SPOT uses 100% satellite it provides coverage far beyond that of cellular phones or other terrestrial communications.

Compact and hand-held, the SPOT Personal Tracker™ and the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger™ products are ideal for any outdoor enthusiasts or maritime traveler, especially those who venture off the beaten path into remote areas. SPOT features a variety of function keys that transmit messages based on varying levels of need:

  • Check-in/OK let contacts know where you are and that you are okay
  • Help/SPOT Assist send a request for help with your location to friends or family or third party SPOT Assist service providers
  • SOS/911 notify the emergency rescue coordination center of your GPS location
  • Track Progress send and save your location and allows contacts to track your progress in real-time using Google Maps™
  • Custom Message send a custom message to family and friends (available on the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger™ only)

Designed for extreme conditions, the SPOT Messenger products are rugged and waterproof making it invaluable during any emergency response situation, such as hurricanes and floods, even when landline and cellular service may not be available.

Since its inception in November 2007, SPOT has helped initiate more than 500 rescues in 51 countries and off-shore, many which resulted in lives saved, and has transmitted more than 20 million “peace-of-mind” and “track me” messages world-wide.

Coverage
SPOT Messenger products work nearly around the world including all of the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia, portions of South America, Africa, Northeastern and Southeast Asia, and hundreds or thousands of miles off-shore of these areas.
