New C7 loudspeaker offers the highest level of sonic accuracy with
striking aesthetic appeal

CES 2006, LAS VEGAS, NV. Jan. 5, 2006 — Snell Acoustics, acclaimed for its tradition of handcrafted loudspeakers with leading edge designs, expands the acclaimed Series 7 with the C7 Tower. The Series 7 is Snell’s first complete line created from the ground up by famed chief designer Joe D’Appolito.

The visually striking C7 Tower, which aesthetically matches all Series 7 models, is a floor standing tower configured in a 3-way design using the D’Appolito array with dual 4-inch midrange drivers above and below a 1-inch silk dome tweeter. Two 8-inch aluminum cone woofers are placed on either side of the cabinet near the bottom of the enclosure. This configuration allows the back wave of the woofers to “Force Balance” each other to produce less cabinet resonance. Furthermore, the sleek and elegant cabinet takes up minimal floor space, compared to other dual woofer designs. It is capable of tremendous output to over 110dB, and with its D’Appolito MTM array, remarkably realistic soundstaging. Even without a subwoofer, the C7 is capable of deep, rich bass rated down to nearly 30Hz. The C7 sits in a casted aluminum bass, stabilized by four integrated feet.

The C7 joins seven other models in the Series 7, the D7 Tower, the M7 Monitor, the LCR Monitor, the K7 Bookshelf, the CR7 Center Channel and the Basis150 and Basis300 Powered Subwoofers. The CR7 and LCR 7 also use the well-known D’Appolito Array. The LCR-7 can be used in a L-C-R array as the mains and center channel speakers though the compact CR7 is a secondary center channel option for more economical or space conscious systems.

“Our goal in designing the Series 7 was to produce a range of loudspeakers that offers a new level of sonic accuracy and esthetic appeal at affordable prices with a beautiful industrial design, ” says Joseph D’Appolito, Snell Acoustics Chief Designer. “The C7 is latest model in the series and we selected the best drivers from a world-class manufacturer, incorporating the latest advances in dynamic driver design. The sleek contemporary industrial design team combines the best of wood and metal trim to fit in with a wide range of decorating styles.”

The C7’s D’Appolito array provides an extraordinary soundstage and is capable of delivering a very broad and even vertical dispersion. It provides an exceptionally open, lucid, and dynamic sound with superb clarity, so that groups of listeners can enjoy the maximum from recorded music and movie soundtracks. The LCR7 is the perfect center channel compliment to the D7, with matching D’Appolito arrays that reduce lobing and provide remarkable imaging and coherence, perfect for high end-home theaters.

On the backside is Snell’s trademark rear firing tweeter (defeatable). A two-position treble switch matches room acoustics and program requirements plus there are boundary and perforated screen compensation adjustments, offering unprecedented control over the variables of room acoustics and boundary interactions.

Each model in the series is timbrally and cosmetically matched so any number of combinations can be created, to suite any listening and home theater environment. The C7, like all Series 7 loudspeakers (except the CR7) comes in two different wood finishes – natural Cherry w/silver grilles and anodized aluminum accents or black painted Walnut with black grilles and black anodized accents.

The C7 is provided with dual, 5-way silver-plated, solid metal binding posts for use in proximity to video monitors. The natural cherry and black painted walnut finishes with the elegant Series 7 styling and cabinet construction are consistent throughout the line for make it easy to mixing and matching of the various models. Like all Snell speakers, the C7 is tuned to .5dB of the reference master and can be special ordered in most woods and finishes.

The C7 will be retail for $2,500/ea and be available in 1st Qtr ’06. It was seen with all of Snell’s Series 7 models in Booth 25902 at the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall 2.
