These days, most people don’t spend as much time sitting on the couch watching TV and listening to music, but that doesn’t mean they are necessarily forgoing a fun entertainment experience.
With that in mind, Samsung builds on its “screens everywhere” concept with the introduction of a unique lifestyle device, dubbed The Freestyle by Samsung.
Although, not an ultra-short-throw home cinema projector like The Premiere by Samsung, The Freestyle is designed for fun experiences while opening up new use cases. It offers a big screen TV entertainment experience wherever there is a white wall — even the ceiling. And because it can be powered by a battery (optional), The Freestyle is truly a go-anywhere projector.

The Freestyle combines video projection, smart TV features, decorative/party lighting, and music playback which is great for casual lifestyles, partying, and traveling.
The following is what we know so far.
- The Freestyle has a stylish cylindrical shape.
- 1080p native display resolution.
- As a video projector, you can display 30 to 100-inch images of whatever you’re watching on a screen, wall, or ceiling and can be used inside or outside. For example, you can lay it on the floor and watch a show on the ceiling with its 180-degree cradle stand, or sit in your bed and project your favorite content onto your walls.
- Built-in Auto Focus, Auto Leveling, and Keystone Correction provide quick and easy setup.
- Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi. Bluetooth, and Screen Mirroring.
- Smart TV experience via the same platform used by Samsung TVs (Tizen).
- Physical Inputs include both HDMI and USB.
- For music listening the Freestyle provides immersive 360-degree sound.
- Voice control via Bixby, Alexa, or Google Assistant is supported via its built-in far-field microphones.
- In addition to projection and music listening you can create mood lighting (great for parties) by attaching the provided lens cap.
- You can even sync the lighting to your favorite music playlist.
- You can attach the Freestyle to a standard E26 lightbulb socket via the purchase of an optional base accessory.
- The Freestyle only weighs 1.83 lbs, making it a great personal entertainment companion.
- For added portability and travel convenience, an optional waterproof case, a USB-C portable battery, and other accessories will be available.
Price & Availability
The Freestyle is available for pre-order now for $899 directly from Samsung. Delivery is expected by February 8, 2022, and the accessories are set to arrive on Feb 24, 2022.
