Roku 2025 TV Refresh: What to Expect from Select, Plus, and Pro Series

Roku’s 2025 TVs bring mini-LED, Dolby Atmos, faster streaming, and now an 85-inch model—finally stepping up to the big-screen showdown.

It’s been a busy year for TV innovation — LG, Samsung, Hisense, TCL all pushing boundaries. Keeping pace, Roku has refreshed its 2025 lineup of Roku-made TVs: the Select, Plus, and Pro Series. These updates promise easy setup, speedy performance, sharp picture quality, and all the practical features you actually use. With sizes from a modest 24” up to a whopping 85”, Roku’s 2025 lineup has something to squeeze into just about any room — whether that’s your cramped kitchen or your “home theater.”

Across the lineup, Roku has made setup more painless than ever with simplified cable management and clearly labeled, easy-to-reach ports—because yes, you shouldn’t need a flashlight and a degree in yoga to plug in an HDMI cable. New for 2025, the handy on-screen placement guide—previously a Pro Series exclusive—now comes to Select Series models 65” and up. And for those who prefer their explosions and plot twists without waking the whole house, Bluetooth Headphone Mode is finally built in for private listening.

2025 Roku Pro Series Features and Upgrades

For 2025, the Roku Pro Series introduces several upgrades aimed at enhancing the overall TV viewing experience.

Life-like Content: Roku has improved image processing across the Pro Series to deliver greater realism and accuracy—an essential step in an era where most content is streamed. These enhancements help streamed shows and movies look more natural and detailed, minimizing the artificial or flat appearance often associated with lower-quality compression.

Smart Picture Max: Carried over from 2024, Roku’s Smart Picture Max continues to optimize picture quality on a scene-by-scene basis. It dynamically adjusts motion clarity, reduces compression artifacts, and selects the best picture mode based on what’s on screen—no manual settings required.

Mini-LED Backlight: For 2025, Roku has re-engineered its Mini-LED backlight system to deliver 75% higher dynamic contrast than the previous generation. This update reduces blooming, sharpens highlights, and works alongside precision tone mapping and factory-calibrated color for more lifelike images. Combined with QLED color, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ Adaptive, and Dolby Vision IQ, the result is vivid highlights, deep blacks, and highly accurate color reproduction—whether you’re watching movies, sports, or gaming.

Audio: Roku’s updated “Sound Stage” implementation brings side-firing Dolby Atmos speakers and refined audio tuning for improved dialogue clarity and deeper, more impactful bass—enhancing both cinematic moments and everyday viewing.

Faster Menu Navigation: With Wi-Fi 6 and a streamlined operating system, the 2025 Pro Series delivers faster app launches and smoother navigation, making everything from streaming to settings more responsive.

Gaming Support: Gamers get a solid upgrade with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and a 120Hz refresh rate. Together, these features reduce screen tearing, input lag, and motion blur—ideal for fast-paced titles.

Headphone Support: Bluetooth Headphone Mode allows for private listening without sacrificing sound quality. Whether you’re watching late at night or sharing space with others, it’s a seamless, convenient feature.

Slim Cabinet Design and Art: The Pro Series sports a sleek, shadow-box aesthetic designed to flush-mount like a picture frame. Roku’s Backdrops feature transforms the TV into digital wall art, with access to a curated library of free, high-resolution artwork.

Wall-Mounting: Roku offers a slim-profile wall mount kit (sold separately) featuring a hinge and kickstand for easy port access. Setup is further simplified with tool-free stands, integrated cable management, and an on-screen placement guide.

Voice Control: The Roku Voice Remote Pro returns with backlit buttons, customizable shortcuts, a rechargeable USB-C battery, and a built-in remote finder integrated into the TV—because losing remotes is basically a sport.

Roku Plus Series 2025: Key Features and Upgrades

Trickle-Down Tech: The 2025 Roku Plus Series now benefits from features once reserved for the flagship Pro Series. This includes Mini-LED backlighting paired with QLED color for improved brightness and color accuracy. For the first time, Smart Picture Max is also available in the Plus Series, offering intelligent scene-by-scene image optimization. Other notable upgrades include an on-TV remote finder button, an upgraded processor and memory for better performance, and a built-in subwoofer for fuller, more immersive sound.

Ease of Use: With a redesigned processor and memory architecture, the Plus Series offers quicker navigation and snappier app performance. It also features streamlined cable management, mirroring the convenience-first design introduced in the Pro Series. The built-in subwoofer enhances low-end response, delivering more balanced audio for movies and everyday viewing without needing an external soundbar.

Roku Select Series 2025: Key Features and Upgrades

Expanded Options: The 2025 Roku Select Series includes HD, Full HD, and 4K models, now available in screen sizes up to 85”. Whether you’re outfitting a dorm room or a larger living space, there’s a Select Series TV to fit the bill.

Audio and Picture Upgrades: All Select models now feature Dolby Audio for improved sound quality out of the box. 4K models receive an additional boost with HDR10+ support, bringing better contrast and dynamic range to supported content. Select Series TVs are also compatible with Roku’s wireless surround sound expansion, giving users a path to a more immersive home theater setup without the cable clutter.

From Paul Nangeroni, Senior Director of Product Management at Roku: “Since launching our first Roku-made TVs two years ago, we’ve focused on creating products that marry our easy-to-use software with thoughtfully designed hardware to give our customers the best possible experience—something simple that both looks and sounds great,…Our 2025 lineup furthers that commitment with performance upgrades and intelligent features designed to take the guesswork out of getting the best picture and sound, no matter what you’re watching.”

The Bottom Line

We had a chance to get a hands-on preview of Roku’s 2025 lineup, and with this latest TV announcement, it looks like that preview is coming to life. While Roku shared several interesting feature upgrades across the Select, Plus, and Pro Series, detailed specs are still thin—so don’t expect a comprehensive model-by-model comparison just yet.

As part of the rollout, Roku also confirmed plans to expand distribution of its self-branded TVs to more retail channels—a smart move if it wants serious market penetration. With established players like Hisense and TCL already dominating this price range, Roku needs to keep pushing, especially when it comes to entering the booming 85-inch-plus category.

That said, Roku’s 2025 Select, Plus, and Pro TVs appear well-positioned for their respective performance and pricing tiers. And Roku’s OS licensing strategy remains intact, meaning the brand continues to generate revenue through third-party TV partners—an important dual-stream approach as the smart TV war heats up.

I feel like these could be good secondary TVs if the quality is good. A 24” model might seem silly to some but that’s a great size for a kitchen counter or even home gym.

It’s interesting to see how Roku has expanded well beyond its network players.
