UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJ (10/16/07) — Onkyo has introduced the HT-SP908 home theater in a box system, featuring everything a consumer needs to turn the latest high definition video display into a full-fledged home theater experience. This full 7.1-channel system consists of a high quality A/V receiver with HDMI v. 1.3a switching and internal decoding for the latest high definition audio formats, an upconverting DVD player capable of 1080p HD video output, seven full range loudspeakers, a powered subwoofer, and the company’s exclusive RI (Remote Interactive) iPod Control dock.

Onkyo’s HT-SP908 system uses the company’s most popular A/V receiver, the TX-SR605, for a full array of processing for high definition audio and video. It includes two HDMI v1.3a inputs and one output which are fully compatible with 1080p video, including DeepColor technology. The receiver has decoding for the latest high audio codecs, including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio. The TX-SR605 is both XM and Sirius satellite radio ready and also employs the powerful Audyssey 2EQ automatic calibration function, making it simple to optimize acoustic performance in any home theater listening environment.

The HT-SP908 package also includes Onkyo’s popular DV-SP405 DVD player, which has a high quality internal scaler capable of upconverting standard DVD video to resolutions up to 1080p for output through its rear panel HDMI port. The player also features a full range of analog video outputs, including progressive scan component video as well as standard composite and S-Video, making it compatible with any modern video display.

The HT-SP908’s speaker system, consists of seven identical satellite speakers and a powerful subwoofer for deep bass reproduction. Each satellite speaker has a pair of 3-1/8 inch cone woofers and a high quality 1-inch balanced dome tweeter. The subwoofer has a 230-watt powered subwoofer with a 10-inch cone driver. The receiver’s crossover points can be set to any of eight possible settings for ideal integration of the speakers with the environment and listener preferences.

Finally, the HT-SP908 is fully compatible with iPod portable music players, thanks to the inclusion of Onkyo’s DS-A1X Remote Interactive (RI) control dock. This dock not only allows the iPod to function as a system source component, it also allows for control of basic iPod functions using the included TX-SR605 remote control unit.

The Onkyo HT-SP908 is currently available in an attractive black finish at a suggested retail price of $1099.
