Onkyo Introduces HDMI upconverting DVD-A/SACD player

Onkyo has introduced the DV-SP504 DVD player, giving consumers HDMI output with video upconversion and high-end audio performance for DVD-Audio and SACD discs at an affordable price. The DV-SP504 features an internal video scaler capable of converting standard DVD-video to either 720p or 1080i HDTV standard, superior audio performance, and is compatible with both MP3 and WMA discs, including ID3 tag display, as well as DVD±R/RW, CD-R/RW, and JPEG image CDs.

The DV-SP504 boasts a wide array of video outputs, including HDCP-compliant HDMI, progressive scan component video, S-Video, and Composite video outputs for optimum compatibility with any home theater display. The player also features 108 MHz/14-bit video DACS and a high quality video scaling and deinterlacing engine with 2-3 pulldown for optimal video quality with both film and video based sources.

For audio reproduction, the DV-SP504 features 192 kHz/24-bit linear PCM audio DACs coupled with the company’s exclusive Vector Linear Shaping Circuit (VLSC) for smoother and more linear analog output. It also includes Onkyo’s enhanced Direct Digital Path to ensure maximum fidelity of audio information delivered to the digital output jacks. There is a complete multichannel analog audio output, including a defeatable second set of surround channel connections for use with 7.1-channel home theater systems that lack an HDMI input.

Onkyo’s DV-SP504 includes a full-function remote control, front panel display with adjustable brightness, and a high resolution on-screen display to provide simple setup and control of all functions. There are rear-panel IR in/out jacks and an RS-232 port for integration with whole-house control systems.

The DV-SP504 DVD-A/SACD player is currently available in either black or silver finish at a suggested retail price of $449.
