Neumann Expands KH Studio Monitor Line With Five New DSP-Powered Subwoofers

Neumann’s KH Series adds DSP subwoofers with deep 16 Hz bass, multichannel support, AoIP options, and MA 1 room calibration for precise studio monitoring.

Neumann KH 805 II, 810 II, and 870 II Subwoofers

German pro audio brand Neumann has expanded its KH series with three new DSP-powered subwoofers—the KH 805 II, KH 810 II, and KH 870 II—each available in standard and AoIP versions. Designed for high SPL performance and optimized for stereo, surround, and immersive audio workflows, the new models deliver precision, power, and flexibility for modern studios.

From Yasmine Riechers, CEO of Neumann: “With immersive audio becoming the new standard across music, post-production, and broadcast, reliable monitoring is more important than ever…Our new KH subwoofers offer scalable solutions for every studio size and format – from stereo to surround and immersive – while integrating seamlessly with both analog and DSP-equipped KH monitors.”

Neumann KH 805 II: Compact DSP-Powered Subwoofer for Precision Monitoring

The KH 805 II builds on the foundation of the KH 750 DSP from 2019, but pushes things further with twice the output for more headroom and deeper low-end extension. It’s a natural fit for stereo setups, especially when paired with Neumann’s KH 120 II, KH 150, or KH 310 monitors.

Neumann KH 810 II: DSP Subwoofer With Multichannel Bass Management for Immersive Audio

The KH 810 II builds on the KH 805 II’s acoustic design but adds full multichannel bass management, handling configurations up to 7.1.4. It’s purpose-built for immersive audio production and can manage bass for up to eleven studio monitors in a system.

Neumann KH 870 II: Dual-Driver Flagship Subwoofer for Large Studios

Sitting at the top of the KH range, the dual-driver KH 870 II delivers twice the output of the KH 810 II while retaining the same multichannel bass management. It’s built for large rooms and demanding applications, and integrates seamlessly with Neumann’s big monitors like the KH 420.

Neumann KH 810 II AES67 & KH 870 II AES67: Network-Ready Subwoofers for Broadcast and Studio

The KH 810 II AES67 and KH 870 II AES67 mirror their standard versions in performance but add networked audio connectivity. Both are built for seamless integration into modern broadcast and studio environments, supporting 12 AES67 input channels with full compliance for ST 2110, ST 2022-7 redundancy, RAVENNA, NMOS, and DANTE-generated streams. This makes them flexible, future-proof options for networked audio workflows.

Neumann DSP and MA 1 Integration: Precision Calibration for the KH Subwoofers

neumann-ma1-mic

All new KH subwoofers feature Neumann’s advanced DSP engine, which works with the MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment (sold separately) to streamline system setup. This integration lets users optimize an entire Neumann monitoring system—including analog KH speakers—for room acoustics and phase coherence. The MA 1’s calibration ensures optimal listening conditions for recording, mixing, and mastering.

Neumann KH Subwoofer Family

With the new additions, Neumann now offers a complete lineup of DSP-controlled subwoofers, from the compact KH 750 DSP to the powerful KH 870 II, covering everything from stereo to immersive audio workflows. All models reach down to 16 Hz, and when paired with Neumann studio monitors, they deliver reference-quality sound across the full frequency spectrum. Together, the subs and monitors provide the clarity and control essential for precise mixing, mastering, and other critical studio tasks.

From Stephan Mauer, Head of Product: “Our new subwoofers offer significant advancements, with dramatically reduced distortion and port noise…It’s worth noting that they can be combined with both analog and DSP-controlled KH Line studio monitors, making them the perfect tool for upgrading an existing stereo system and/or expanding it for immersive monitoring. They also offer the option of precise room alignment via MA 1 of the entire system. In other words: no more low-end guesswork.

The Bottom Line

Neumann’s KH Series subwoofers are serious studio tools, not simple plug-and-play units. With extensive analog and digital connectivity, optional AoIP support, and deep low-end extension down to 16 Hz, they deliver precision, power, and flexibility for any monitoring setup. To unlock their full potential, pairing them with the MA 1 room correction system is highly recommended—and at $300, it’s a small investment for optimizing the entire KH system.
