Lawrence, Kansas, June 2006– MartinLogan, the Loudspeaker Technology Company, announces the introduction of the new Stage loudspeaker. The result of years of research, the new Stage hybrid electrostatic loudspeaker features advanced technological developments, dramatically reducing cabinet size and establishing new standards for efficiency, dynamics.

Stage is a highly evolved expression of the ideas and engineering that spawned the legendary Logos and Theater center-channel speakers. Incorporating many of our most refined technologies, including a state-of-the-art HD-XStat electrostatic panel, twin 6.5-inch aluminum-cone woofers, and highly sophisticated Vojtko crossover, the precision and intelligibility of Stage’s center-channel reproduction are unrivaled.

Featuring a multi-mount bracket/stand, Stage works as a main, center or surround speaker, mounted on- or off-wall, horizontally or vertically. Only a handful of speakers (our own floorstanding electrostats) match or outperform the Stage in any of these applications, and none outpace it in all of them. Its sound is always simply glorious.

Stage’s Features Include:
HD-XStat (Hybrid Dynamic XStat) Technology
-XStat Electrostatic Transducer featuring:
-Advanced Vacuum Bonding
-MicroPerf Stators
-ClearSpar technology
-CLS (Curvilinear Line Source)
-Two High-Resolution 6.5-inch Aluminum Cone Woofers
-Pivoting Multi-Mount Bracket/Stand
-Precision Performance Crossover Engineering
-Low-Voltage Power Supply

HYBRID DYNAMIC XSTAT (HD-XSTAT) TECHNOLOGY

What really sets the Stage apart is a high-resolution neodymium soft dome tweeter embedded directly in the electrostatic panel. By eliminating the need for a bulky tweeter-housing mounted in front of the ESL panel (as found on the MartinLogan Cinema and Theater center channels), the Stage all but eliminates high-frequency diffraction. This unique mounting system also increases mid-range/high-frequency phase coherence and time alignment while offering superior dispersion characteristics (compared to previous MartinLogan center channels).

XStat Transducer Enhances Electrostatic Purity
Revealing every subtle nuance of recorded sound with unflinching accuracy, Stage’s XStat electrostatic transducer reveals a magical performance with precision, dynamics and three-dimensional sound staging–all from an extremely compact stat panel.

Stage’s CLS (Curvilinear Line Source) XStat transducer builds upon the legacy of MartinLogan’s electrostatic heritage. The integration of exotic toroidal transformer engineering and an electrical interface technology developed by MartinLogan’s Statement e2 engineering team extends effortless dynamics and purity resulting in the highest sonic standards of efficiency and precision.

MicroPerf stator technology, featured in Stage’s XStat transducer, maximizes playable area in each panel. Further enhancing efficiency and dynamics as well as MartinLogan’s trademark transparency, rigid ClearSpar spacers (originally engineered for the cost-no-object Statement e2) allow XStat transducers to maintain an extremely uniform tension of the diaphragm during critical panel construction processes, permitting critical stator and diaphragm spacing within an exact tolerance.

PRECISION PERFORMANCE VOJTKO CROSSOVER
Carefully hand-built using only the finest polypropylene capacitors and air-core coils, Stage’s crossover employs MartinLogan’s proprietary Vojtko topology for vanishingly low distortion and seamless driver integration. This precision-tuned network preserves even the most subtle sonic nuances while handling the full dynamics of any source.

PIVOTING MULTI-MOUNT STAND/BRACKET
To further enhance custom application options, the Stage ships with a multi-mount stand / bracket attached. Whether the Stage is placed atop a rear projection TV, wall mounted under or beside a plasma screen or placed on the floor, the unit can be precisely aimed to achieve optimal performance.

LOW-VOLTAGE POWER SUPPLY
A low-voltage DC power supply eliminates the need for a traditional, heavy IEC power cord.

VARIETY OF FINISH OPTIONS
Stage features a variety of real wood veneers with multiple layers of hand-rubbed lacquer.
