Wireless Home Control Devices
Wireless Technology Delivers Reliable Lighting and Home Control

Denver, September 14, 2006 — Leviton Manufacturing Company, North America’s leading manufacturer of electrical and electronic wiring devices, has expanded its Vizia Collection with Vizia-RF, a scalable, affordable wireless lighting control system for residential applications. Easy to install, set up and operate, Leviton’s Vizia-RF Lighting and Home Control system uses Zensys’ Z-Wave technology to overcome the performance issues and high cost of earlier generations of wireless home control systems. The advanced wireless Vizia-RF system includes digital dimmers and switches, along with a full-function scene controller, zone controller, appliance and lamp modules and remote controls. These devices can be installed as a single, stand-alone lighting control network or as part of
Z-Wave’s larger “intelligent” network of controls for HVAC, access control, intruder and fire detection, appliance control and other home systems.
Vizia-RF’s advanced technology offers performance features previously not available in any Z-Wave product. Vizia-RF Plug-In Modules with “best in class” circuitry and an extended Z-Wave range deliver optimum performance exceeding the performance of other Z-Wave Plug-Ins on the market. The Leviton Plug-In Modules also provide load sensing, the most requested feature in these devices. When a lamp is plugged into a Vizia-RF Lamp Module, users can operate it manually using a switch, pull chain or other lamp-mounted switch. The improved radio frequency range of Vizia-RF also enhances reliability and extends compatibility with other Z-Wave products. Leviton’s exclusive two-way protocol actively indicates whether the load is ON or OFF and delivers peak performance without sacrificing compatibility. All Vizia-RF products are backed by Leviton’s century-old reputation for quality and reliability.
“Through the integration of Z-Wave’s technological advantages with our own legendary standards for quality and reliability in switching and lighting control devices, Leviton is able to offer the industry a generation of home controls that sets the standard for performance, value and dependability,” said Grant Sullivan, Product Marketing Manager for Leviton Integrated Networks and Controls. “Since Vizia-RF devices work well with other Z-Wave enabled devices, users can easily expand their Vizia-RF system by adding products from other Z-Wave Alliance partners.”
Leviton has joined with more than 125 companies to participate in the Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of leading-edge companies that are working to incorporate Z-Wave technology into their products. The companies include industry leaders such as Logitech, Honeywell, Motorola, Intermatic, Wayne-Dalton and Universal Electronics. Z-Wave compliant products range from heating and air conditioning, security and safety, access control and appliance control to home entertainment.
