JL Audio Introduces HD Amplifiers

There have been many attempts at creating well-behaved, full-range switching amplifier designs. As it stands today, there are several good technologies to choose from… but there is one that we believe stands out above all others… it’s called Single Cycle Control™ and it is central to our new HD amplifiers.

We’ve mated this revolutionary core technology to our legendary R.I.P.S. power supply, advanced thermal management systems and a full complement of studio-grade processing features to put the all-new JL Audio HD amplifiers in a performance class all their own.

Of course, being Class D switching amplifiers, you can expect low current draw and a very compact chassis (and you won’t be disappointed on either front). But, what makes the HD amplifiers really special only becomes clear when you listen to one.

Single-Cycle Control™: High-Fidelity Class D is a reality. (U.S. Patent #6,084,450*)
Single Cycle Control™ is a unique approach to controlling a full-range Class D amplifier. By tracking the audio signal, comparing it to the real PWM waveform and then correcting it in each and every cycle (over 400,000 times per second), a multitude of distortion-causing mechanisms can be tightly controlled to enable pristine amplification.

While there are certainly less expensive ways to make a full-range switching amplifier, no other Class D control system works faster or more accurately than Single Cycle

Control™, which is why no other mobile audio amplifier in the world performs like a JL Audio HD.

R.I.P.S. (Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply)
Tight power supply regulation maintains rated power output and low distortion operation over a wide range of vehicle supply voltages (11V – 14.5V), while the “Intelligent” portion of the R.I.P.S. system automatically optimizes the amplifier’s output power over a wide range of load impedances (1.5 – 4 ohms per channel).

Differential-Balanced Inputs
Ensure noise-free compatibility with a wide range of signal sources, including OEM systems.

Studio-Grade Signal Processing

  • Variable slope, state-variable crossover filters (12 or 24dB/octave), with fully-variable frequency selection from 50-500 Hz (both models)
  • True remote level control with optional HD-RLC controller (assignable channels on HD600/4)
  • HD750W/1 also features an infrasonic filter and output polarity control.
  • Pass-through preamp outputs (both models)
  • Security cover for all controls is included
  • Oh, yes… small and efficient, too!
  • 13% smaller overall and over 1/2-inch shorter in height than the leading competitor.
  • Outstanding overall efficiency (80% at 1/2 rated power) allows for huge power from a tiny chassis and is kind to the vehicle’s charging system, drawing 60% less current than a Class A/B design of equal power!
  • Stackable chassis design
  • Security cover for controls
  • Removable power and speaker plugs
  • RealSink™ thermal management
