jig.jp (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director/President/CEO: Taisuke Fukuno), which conceived, developed and sold the “jig browser”, the first Java full browser for viewing of PC sites from mobile phones, announced that the preview version of a new overseas version of the jig browser will become available in this summer.

The jig browser, which was developed by jig.jp and was the first of its kind in the world, is a Java application for mobile phones that permits viewing of PC sites from mobile phones. The service was first offered in October 2004 in Japan. jig.jp recently completed a version for overseas 3G terminals. It will go on sale to the global market starting in this summer. In advance of the official release, for a limited time only, jig.jp is currently offering a preview version of the jig browser for download at no cost. It can be downloaded from http://bg.jig.jp. (not including transmission fees)

“Growth in the mobile phone content market has been very strong in Japan. The jig browser has been downloaded more than 730,000 times since the service was first offered in Japan. We are certain that mobile phone users in the rest of the world will also enjoy using the jig browser,” commented CEO Taisuke Fukuno.

The jig browser is an application that makes it possible to view PC sites from a mobile phone. It takes sites generated for viewing on a PC and optimizes them for viewing on a mobile phone. It offers a variety of display modes and rapid scrolling in any direction.
